GEIS System Consultant

The Systems Consultant position exists to provide a blend of Technical/Functional subject matter expertise on the domain and institutional knowledge for the maintenance, support and development of LexisNexis Enterprise systems, applications and tools. This role specifically works in collaboration with vendor engineering teams and the LexisNexis community to provide enterprise and system level consulting on business analysis, software design and development efforts. This role identifies ways technology solutions can be applied to support business strategies and improve business processes. Individuals in this role partner with business units and GEIS's Business Consultants team to communicate and clarify business needs to vendor resources, contribute to development of long-range systems plans and architecture, assist in requirements elaboration, and ensure products and services are aligned and implemented to meet business needs. It is also expected that the GEIS Systems Consultant may be required to participate minimally in hands-on development work, specifically when it comes to assisting with high severity incident reports or time-critical project deadlines. Incumbents will conduct business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost-benefit analysis. They also review estimates and designs to ensure compliance with architectural standards. Strong collaboration with the GEIS architecture team is expected. This position can also act in a Business Relationship Management capacity partnering with the business functions to ensure that their IT systems needs are met. Working in collaboration with the GEIS Business Consultant the role may also be responsible for developing end to end Level 4 business requirements and the management of Level 0-4 capabilities and requirements for small, vertical domain focused business requests, documented using the Blueprint tool. Qualifications:
1. 8 years experience in all phases of IT system development Life Cycle
2. Requires a Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Science or a related major, or related experience 3. Proven appropriate degree of Functional and Technical acumen for the Business Intelligence and OBIEE technology domain. Specifically technical expertise in Oracle Marketing Segmentation BI Publisher, Siebel Analytics and Hyperion IR.
4. Knowledge of large complex systems such as ERP with respect to the Business Processes, Technology, Integration points, and Infrastructure
5. Ability to size concepts and develop L4 use cases using Blueprint or related tool
6. Strong leadership skills
7. Outstanding communication, conflict management and negotiation skills
8. Proven ability to work independently and lead teams consisting of both employees and vendor resources in multiple locations and time zones
9. Proven ability to adapt to new roles and responsibilities
10. Proven ability to collaborate and partner with peers in a heavily matrixed organization
11. Ability to provide both detail information and also summarize to a management level
12. Tenacity, ability to work through problems and reach a solution
