REQUIRED SKILLS:

·         High School Diploma

·         Five years industrial experience

·         Basic Math English skills

·         Knowledge of equipment in melting, molding, pouring and refractory departments

·         Knowledge of Statistical Process Control

 

DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Trains and develops subordinates, counsels employees on problems and administers personnel policies and practices for the department

·         Advises and consults with engineering on new equipment and/or adaptation of present equipment, revises present equipment to meet current needs, searches for new improved methods to reduce manual preparation and increase efficiency and production

·         Reviews cost reports and takes action to reduce costs

·         Assists in determining size of work force and extent of shift operations, develops projections of manpower requirement

·         Assists in plans, layout and coordinates over-all foundry activities and  insures continuous production and meet production schedules, works with the Production Control Manager in the development of production schedules and the meeting production requirements

·         Develops and installs safe work methods and practices, sees that safety rules are enforced and sees to the general safety and welfare of the department employees

·         Works with the maintenance supervisor on equipment repair and machinery replacement

·         Directs the preparation of such records and reports as necessary to adequately carry out the functions of the department

·         Coordinates operations so as to meet quality standards, analyzes and interprets scrap reports and initiates necessary changes to  reduce scrap, work with the Quality Manager on quality problems

·         Carries out company policies and programs and cooperates in the development of effective communications

·         Track all key indicators in the department

·         Ensures compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality regulations

·         Other duties as assigned
