General Maintenance Technician

Position summary:
Responsible for performing system startup, system troubleshooting and preventive maintenance requirements. Perform minor maintenance duties and assist trade technicians in and around airport facilities. Responsible for responding to and correcting issues that may exist within the facility or with the equipment or systems within this scope of work and reporting any issues that are found that could potentially lead to additional system failures. Candidate MUST have general maintenance skills.
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Active Driver License
- 1-2 years of related experience in general maintenance work
- Must have knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Basic PC skills
- Ability to be badged to work in secure areas of an airport.
- Available to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift and may include weekends.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
- Ability to use hand trucks, forklifts, tugs and lift trucks
- Perform maintenance and repair activities associated with the facilities included within this scope of work involving but not limited to structural related work on floors, walls, ceilings, doors, windows and other structural related items.
- Assist trade personnel and perform maintenance duties with a professional demeanor.
- Responsible for responding to trouble calls immediately after announced.
- Identify any potential issues that are found with equipment.
- Identify any potential issues that are re-occurring with the system and document them.
- Generate work orders for work that needs to be performed.
- Follow up on work orders to assure that work is done and status of work orders reflects the correct status.
- Ensure that parts are properly being documented on the work order.
- Drive and operate different equipment such as golf cart, company vehicles, forklift, etc.
- Support the Site Manager and the operation in special projects and assignments.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit for extended periods. Ladder work required.
Work Environment:
The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment.
