General Manager

The primary function of this position is to manage, direct, and coordinate all aspects of the production, interface with inspection personnel, and oversee shipment of structural steel fabrications for our nationwide customer base. All production personnel will report to this position through plant managers and lead-men. Additionally, normal responsibilities will include production planning and forecasts, interface with customers as required, vendors, testing agencies, and normal administrative support activities in pursuit of streamlined production output and labor/profit objectives consistent with quality, timeliness, and our overall corporate goals.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Works to develop the framework of tasks necessary to execute the fabrication of a diverse set of projects concurrent with project schedules and objectives under a schedule set forth by the President of Operations and to efficiently coordinate and supervise personnel and project activities.

 

·       Responsible for overall management of all production personnel.

·         Responsible for maintaining production forecasts and scheduling.

·         Responsible for oversight and coordination of all product shipping.

·         Responsible for interfacing with QA Management in support of prescribed product quality standards in concert with internal, Operations-independent Quality Assurance personnel.

·         Responsible for optimization of material use through scrap minimization and production efficiencies utilizing FabTrol steel software.

·         Responsible for oversight of and continuance and implementation of proper, efficient, and effective work methods.

·         Responsible for oversight of proper operational maintenance personnel, utilization and maintenance of plant equipment to prevent damage and minimize repair costs.

·         Responsible for selecting, training, motivating, and evaluating subordinate level management employees in an effort to build and support a team-based operation.

·         Responsible for application of company policies, implementing safety programs and safety training efforts, administering discipline, and resolving employee relations problems.

·         Responsible for oversight of plant security, and proper housekeeping of shop, work areas, and plant grounds.

·         Responsible for review and approval of small and large-scale production and maintenance expenditures.

·         Responsible for resolution to customer complaints and problems arising out of the production processes on a case by case basis, working with Operations-independent Project Management personnel.

·         Continually recommend to management large-scale equipment or process improvements, upgrading, expansions, modernization, etc..

·         Responsible for compliance with all OSHA and internal safety compliance programs and reporting procedures.

 

 

Education Experience:

 

·       High school diploma.

 - College education preferred.

 

 Previous Plant and/or Operations Management experience.

 

10+ years hands-on steel fabrication experience.

 

5+ years steel fabrication production supervision experience.

 

 

Requirements:

 

·         Strong leadership qualities, solid people skills, and a strong Mechanical Aptitude.

·         Basic computer Skills (MS Office. FabTrol steel management software experience a plus).

·         Spanish speaking ability a plus.

·         Ability to read and comprehend customer drawings and shop detail drawings.
