General Manager – Business Services – Macquarie Agriculture recruitment
Macquarie Agricultural Funds Management (MAFM) is responsible for assisting investors gain exposure to the agricultural sector through a range of investments. The MAFM business operates farms on over 3.5m hectares of land, which have been developed and managed by Macquarie for agribusiness investments across sheep and cattle production, dairy, horticulture, viticulture, forestry, grains and oilseeds.
An opportunity exists for an experienced General Manager to lead the MAFM Business Services team, which is responsible for supporting the asset and operations managers to drive the performance of businesses through the provision of financial administration, human resources, risk management and IT support services. The team's core objective is to deliver leading practices and scale-ability to the MAFM business.

The role will specifically provide support to MAFM's various businesses across the beef cattle, sheep, grains, dairy, viticulture, almond and forestry sectors.
Key responsibilities of this role are;
- To provide financial management, reporting and administration to the farm businesses;
- Balance sheet management (including debt sourcing) and management reporting;
- Oversee the implementation of risk management frameworks across businesses, e.g. OH S and business and Farm Specific Risk Management Plans;
- Provide HR support services to the assets managed by MAFM including, employee relations, training and development and policy development;
- Accountable for ensuring the business has an efficient and effective IT platform to support the execution of transparent and modern farming systems;
- Provide strong leadership to the Business Services team and broader MAFM team, with a particular focus on driving business priorities, teamwork and engagement with all stakeholders;
- Contribute to MAFM operating in a manner that is consistent with Macquarie values;
- Identify and implement opportunities to continually improve team processes and systems and/or reduce costs.
To be successful in this role you should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Current experience in a senior agribusiness role or general manager position;
- A track record of achieving outstanding managerial and financial outcomes within a team environment;
- A genuine interest in agribusiness;
- Background in financial management/management accounting;
- Proven ability to manage, train and inspire a team;
- Strong leadership and effective communication skills within large organisations;
- The ability to manage a diverse range of stakeholders and possess a service orientated approach;
- Ability to influence change and understand the needs of each unique business;
- A commitment to modern risk management practices, including developing and implementing risk identification and mitigation plans.
