General Manager, Risk Management
Key Strategic Responsibilities:
- Setting the business direction and vision for ITFC, by articulating the strategic priorities for the organization and identifying enablers for success in the long term, in collaboration with the senior leadership of the organization.
- Driving the strategic priorities and vision for ITFC by devising plans for implementation within the Department and guiding execution.
- Defining the strategic priorities for the Risk Management Department in a manner that aligns with the ITFC level goals and objectives, and drives growth coupled with prudence and sustainability from a risk management perspective.
- Liaising with financial institutions, including other multilateral development institutions, in order to build an understanding of best practices in risk management strategies and techniques. Advising the team internally on these findings, and imbibing learnings in policy formulation at ITFC.
- Leading the formulation as well as subsequent updation of the Risk Management policies and procedures at ITFC (i.e. for Credit, Market and Operational Risk as well as Credit Administration) and ensuring that these are geared to safeguard ITFC interest in a robust manner.
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Formulating department budgets in conjunction with the organizational budget, tracking expenses and ensuring adherence.
- Finalizing the manning needs of the department and obtaining requisite approvals.
- Managing the team under the Risk Management department by evaluating the performance of team members, providing feedback on an ongoing basis, identifying development needs and coaching them to ensure ongoing capability development.
- Conducting trainings for the ITFC team on various aspects on which the role holder has subject matter expertise.
Core Responsibilities:
- Leading cross departmental interactions to leverage synergies and drive efficiency in the Risk Management process. Setting expectations on the Risk Management policies and guidelines at ITFC, and driving adherence in a focused manner.
- Working proactively to build a risk management culture within ITFC by building awareness around the policies, building capability to drive implementation and reinforcing compliance across the organization.
- Assessing the impact of ITFC’s business operations and strategies on the balance sheet and financial structure by leveraging risk management tools and techniques, such as stress testing and scenario analysis. Advising ITFC Senior Management on the risk implications of these developments and the mitigating measures necessary.
- Overseeing the development of critical tools and Risk Management Models at ITFC to be leveraged in policy implementation, such as Asset Classification norms for Loan Classifications and Provisioning, Credit Risk Rating and Scoring models, Transaction Scoring Models (for commodities transactions) etc. Reviewing the tools leveraged and ensuring relevance for the ITFC financing/investment portfolio on a periodic basis.
- Overseeing the risk reviews of potential deals being undertaken by the Credit Review Manager in order to ensure that all investment, counterparty and transaction risks are identified and addressed through suitable mitigating measures.
- Advising Credit Review Managers on the specific clauses vis-a-vis the terms of agreement, transaction structures, security packages, pricing norms etc that should be incorporated to ensure transaction security.
- Reviewing Quarterly Risk Management reports in order to ensure that these are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Ensuring comprehensive coverage and relevance of content in order to facilitate insightful decision making by ITFC Senior Management.
- Managing escalations for non-adherence with respect to the Credit, Market and Operations Risk policies as well as Credit Administration requirements, by invoking the control mechanisms in place to manage breaches and initiating corrective action, as required.
- Developing an effective portfolio management function in order to monitor the credit risk exposure inherent in ITFC’s financing/investment portfolio as well as borrower’s financial health at the transaction level. Establishing an early warning system to identify deteriorating credit exposures and driving implementation within the team.
- Overseeing the management of remedial assets, and providing input to formulate effective recovery strategies. Ensuring that covenants to invoke guarantees or liquidate collateral are initiated in a timely manner and guiding implementation.
- Participating and providing inputs in various Review Committees, as applicable to the role. Leading the Technical Committee Review to ensure a thorough evaluation of financing/investment proposals.
- Masters / Post Graduate Degree: MBA or MSc with a specialization in Finance or Financial Economics
- Certifications in Risk Management, such as FRM
