General Manager – Winston Flowers and Garden, Newton

 

We have an immediate opportunity to join an established retailer with a 65+ year history as Boston’s premier purveyor of the fine art of floristry and custom accessories.  We are seeking a Management professional with 7+ years of luxury retail, fine dining or hospitality experience and an innate sense and passion for design.  This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and creative individual to work in a boutique setting with world class product, providing exceptional service to our clientele.

 

General Management Responsibilities:

·         Responsible for all aspects of management and sales performance for the Winston Flowers flagship retail location, including the floral sales and nursery lines of business

·         Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team by mentorship and personal example; create and promote a productive and cohesive work environment that provides an exemplary client experience

·         Accountable for attaining sales and profitability goals, as well as continuous evaluation of business operations and best practices

·         Maintain strong visual merchandising presentations to established standards

·         Oversee the selection and transfer of necessary floral, plant and hard good products from Design Studio to Store

·         Responsible for scheduling of staff to meet business levels, oversee cash management and inventory management efforts

 

Client Management Responsibilities:

·         Assist clients with floral and accessory product selection and design floral and plant product based on skill level

·         Responsible for developing clientele portfolios; maintaining and developing existing and new client relationships

 

Candidate Attributes:

·         7+ years of prior staff and client management experience in luxury brand retail, fine dining or hospitality environment is required

·         Demonstrated experience driving business and building teams, with a proven ability to efficiently and professionally meet client needs

·         Excellent leadership, interpersonal and teambuilding skills

·         High level of enthusiasm and self-motivation, combined with strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills

·         Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively

·         Experience in the floral or horticultural industry, as well as a working knowledge of visual merchandising is a plus -- confidence, an outgoing personality and a passion for the client and design are essential!

 

Other:

·         Flexible work schedule required, including weekend availability

·         Peak business periods will require extended work days and work weeks
