Talisman Energy Services Inc is an affiliate of Talisman Energy Inc. Based in Houston; Talisman Energy Services Inc. is growing its deep water discipline and is seeking for an experienced Geoscience Technician to work on a team of geophysicists and geologists in support of our Sierra Leone asset.
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
As a member of the West Africa exploration team, the successful candidate will work in a multi-disciplined team environment with various geoscientists. You will use your technical skills to support the exploration and appraisal programs.
This role will be responsible for:
- Provide support for Oracle 9, Unix, Linux and PC-based GG applications.
- The ideal candidate will have experience and/or proficiency with the following applications:
- Oracle 9/Unix / Linux:
- Geoframe IESX 4x
- Paradigm
- Petrosys
- Geolog
- HampsonRussell
- LogM
- PC
- Petrel
- ArcMap / ArcGIS
- Geolog
- BasinMod
- Powerpoint
- Oracle 9/Unix / Linux:
- Manage connectivity / license issues with geoscience software
- Preference will be given to those with experience with GeoFrame IESX and Petrosys
- Implement Document and Data Management systems for both server and PC-based data
- Manage and optimize software licensing, maintenance and purchasing
- Provide software and hardware evaluations
- Liaise with I.T. to ensure provision of suitable hardware to run applications now and in the foreseeable future.
- Load 2D / 3D seismic, interpretation and well data
- Maintain spatial database
- Assist in management of software training.
- Support and interface with existing technological staff
Qualifications:
- Computing Science degree or diploma combined with petroleum geoscience background
- At least 5 years experience working in an integrated I.T. and Geoscience environment for service or oil company
- Experience of working with multi-disciplinary subsurface exploration teams to deliver projects on schedule to tight deadlines
- Experience with server and PC-based data and document management
- Good communication, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Good analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy
