Geospatial Analyst 2 Job in Chantilly, Virginia Us

The 3001 International Operating Unit of Northrop Grumman Information Systems, a leading provider of geospatial solutions supporting our nation's defense and intelligence initiatives, is seeking Geospatial Analysts for positions in the Washington D.C area. These positions will be counted on to provide military and intelligence community customers with accurate, high quality information and solutions derived from geospatial/imagery analysis.

Job Description:

Geospatial Analysts analyze geospatial data from imagery, intelligence databases, and various ancillary sources in support of national security goals, concerns, and strategies. They use their understanding of geography, remote sensing, spatial analysis, GIS, intelligence issues, and the social and physical sciences to create information, characterize events, and discover relationships and trends. They develop descriptive and predictive analyses and communicate the results, meaning, and significance as written, visual, and/or oral geospatial intelligence.

Basic Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications for this position include:

  • An active U.S. Government TS/SCI clearance with willingness and ability to obtain a CI Poly is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geospatial Information Systems, Cartography, Remote Sensing, Physical Science or a related discipline, plus 2 years of directly related experience as a Geospatial, GIS, or Imagery Analyst which should include experience in digital cartography, photogrammetry, remote sensing, computer technology, and image processing. Four years of equivalent experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Master's Degree in the stated disciplines is also qualifying. Six years of additional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Experience with imagery/geospatial software packages including ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcView, ArcIMS, ArcTools, IEC, SocetSet, TerraExplorer/Builder, Remote View, ERDAS Imagine, MRSID, VB/VBA (or some other object oriented programming/scripting language), Oracle and other appropriate software to analyze geospatial data.
  • Knowledge of Intelink database.
  • Must have the capability to read and understand intelligence issues, military affairs, and use GIS to develop Geospatial Intelligence reports and products to solve problems.
  • Knowledge of commercial imagery, products, processes and sensors.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, and customer support skills.
  • MUST be able to work rapidly in a high tempo, high stress environment that often requires multi-tasking.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Full Scope Poly preferred.
