GL Accountant / Staff Accountant recruitment

Due to the rapid and continuous growth of our business, a new opportunity has arisen for a GL Accountant to join our Finance team based in New York City.
The tasks and duties of this role may evolve over time. You will be keen to develop and grow within the role and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur and you will report to the Accounting Manager and work closely together with other departments in the US as well as across the globe. You will also participate in projects relating to improvement of our financial procedures and systems.

- Close involvement in month end process including preparation of journal entries, Overhead accruals, Prepayment, Fixed Assets, payroll- and Intercompany transactions, reconciliation of general ledger accounts and detailed supporting analysis and relevant documentation;
- Preparation of monthly closing binder;
- Be involved in the bi-monthly payroll procedures and work closely with HR to ensure the employees are paid in time and compliant to local US regulation
- Ensure proper tax filings in cooperation with the rest of the finance and HR teams
- Exposure and access to management.
- Assist Controller to ensure accurate, timely monthly close.
- Preparation and review of monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and understanding what transactions occurred each period.
- Compile, adjust and evaluate various accruals to ensure their accuracy.
- Preparation and review of monthly financial closing journal entries.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis.
- Managing issuance and maintenance of other financial instruments such as letters of credit and related collateral requirements.
- Co-ensure all procedures and controls within the Finance department are, and remain, SOX compliant and meet Internal Audit requirements;
- Assist with multi-company and foreign currency translation matters.
- Back up to review accounts payable distribution reports for accurate accounting treatment and recording of expenses in proper periods.
- Maintain general ledger for Booking.com US and potentially 1 or more other Booking.com entities;
- Be involved in managing compliance of federal, state and city taxes.
- Proactive communication of potential issues to the Controller;
- Assist and co-ordinate statutory audits of Booking.com US;
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting - CPA is required
- Big 4 experience a strong plus
- 3-5 years of experience in industry and/or public accounting or similar work environment
- Excellent organizational and work management skills with the ability to manage and track multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
- Willingness to be hands-on in any area necessary to get the job done in an efficient and effective manner
- Experience and comfort level working in an environment requiring quick turn around and in-depth financial analysis
- Experience with SAP ERP (FI/CO) strongly preferred
- A minimum of 3 years work experience in a similar position and a minimum of 5 years total work experience;
- No 9 to 5 mentality;
- Accurate and analytical;
- Being able to work under stress and with deadlines;
- Being able to prioritize.
