Global Director of Sourcing Job in Nashville, Tennessee US
Title: Global Director of Sourcing
Reports to: Vice President / General Manager
Summary:
With the addition of going global and acquiring multiple companies, this industry leader has an immediate need for a Global Director of Sourcing. With facilities now in China / Mexico / N. America and having acquired additional companies, they are in need of a dynamic individual who can lead their team towards additional growth. This person HAS to be a natural born leader. Position is about 60% leadership and 40% technical. Must have a strong background in supply chain, procurement, purchasing, materials, sourcing, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the strategic development and implementation of a supply base capable of supporting the company global manufacturing footprint
- Responsible for strategy, development, and implementation of supplied components from best cost countries to improve overall product quality and cost competitiveness
- Identify and develop potential suppliers in Asia / Europe
- Develop a supply base capable of providing a sustainable competitive advantage in cost and quality
- Manage the supplier development process of direct raw materials and components
- Must work well cross-functionally to successfully launch on time and within budget
- Enhance collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, procurement and the supply base to drive continuous improvement throughout the entire development and production process.
- Assure products are delivered within the capital and cost spending targets
Requirements/experience:
- Experience in the identification and implementation of global suppliers (Asian and European sourcing experience desired)
- Experience in Procurement Management, Global Sourcing, Project Management, Logistics
- A combination of strategic and tactical sourcing background
- Individual must be aggressive, eager, and not afraid to take risks.
- Must possess tremendous leadership and managerial skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills as they will interface with suppliers, engineers, upper-management, lower-management, CEO’s, etc.
- This is a VERY VISIBLE position so communication, leadership, work ethic, personality, and management skills are key factors.
- This individual will have global responsibilities and there will be some travel required
Additional Insight:
- Projected, annual, purchasing spend = Approximately $50M
- Percentage of purchasing spend that is sourced offshore = Over 10%
- Purchased commodities = Primarily nickel
