About the department

This position is on the GFI (Global Financial Institutions) Complex Credit Underwriting Team, part of the Business Risk Team. The Complex Credit Underwriting team is responsible for underwriting Wells Fargo’s largest 50 global banking group relationships.

Responsibilities

The primary areas of responsibility for the role are as follows:

• Preparing the complete underwriting memorandum and sniff tests and conducting presentations on findings to senior management.This includes underwriting entire banking groups including lead banks, broker dealers, insurance and other bank-owned subsidiaries.

• Work on complex deals requiring internal partner and external client interaction. The Analyst needs to have the ability to prepare compelling credit documents based on limited publically available sources.

• Functions include:

• Analysing diverse credit information for credit facilities, syndicated loans, trade finance related transactions and capital markets risks (FX, derivatives, securities trading).

• Liaising with various lines of business throughout Wells Fargo Bank N.A., Wells Fargo Securities LLC, and other Wells Fargo subsidiaries to review limit needs and utilization.

• Performing research/analysis related to projects such as banking sector studies, portfolio monitoring reports.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience underwriting complex financial institutions.

• Strong financial modeling skills.

• Knowledge of international banking, capital markets and the non-bank financial sector.

• Excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and, periodically, to work under tight deadlines.

• Strong teamwork skills while at the same time the noted ability to work independently and take initiative.

• Strong software skills, notably MS Office products.
