Position Overview

This is a senior role responsible for leading the GFI credit strategy and portfolio management efforts in Turkey, Russia, Africa Middle East (TRAM) region. The incumbent will have dotted line reporting to the Area Head for GFI TRAMS and will be part of the TRAMS management team partnering with the Relationship Management team, Credit Origination and Syndication (COS) team, Credit and product partners in the development and execution of GFI’s credit strategies in the region.

Please note that this position can be based in Dubai, UAE or London, UK.

Responsibilities

Credit Strategy Portfolio Management (60%)

- Work with GFI Area Head, Regional Managers, Relationship Managers, Credit, COS and product partners to establish credit portfolio plans on a regional and market by market basis consistent with the broader GFI Credit Strategy.

- Lead the pro-active management of the credit portfolio in the region in line with the overall GFI portfolio parameters and strategy. This includes review of new deal requests, on-going review of assets in the portfolio, the identification of assets targeted for sale, and decisioning on asset purchases and risk mitigation.

- Coordinate and lead initiatives and projects necessary for the effective management of the portfolio and implementation of credit strategies across the region.

- Ensure deal pricing and structure discipline in respect to credit products offered in the region including active participation in deal teams and review/approval of new deal memos.

- Work in close cooperation with relationship teams, origination teams, product partners and global banking to determine client credit needs and allocate limits to maximize our ability to meet those needs within the confines of the global and market specific credit strategies.

Risk Management/Compliance (25%)

- Take individual responsibility to assure that deals are originated, structured, underwritten, documented and serviced in a way that minimizes credit losses and assures adherence to all compliance requirements.

Management (15%)

- Responsible for the recruitment, development, motivation and retention of team members.

- Builds and maintains strong working relationships with business partners and client managers as well as senior leaders within the region.

- Interact effectively at all levels of the organization and in addition must prioritize situations and related follow up on the resolution.

Requirements

- Deep knowledge of the TRAM region having travelled extensively in the market and having previously established market contacts in the region.

- Expert knowledge of credit products and financing needs of Global Financial Institutions with a proven track record of having successfully originated, structured and closed credit transactions with banks in the region.

- Experience managing a GFI credit portfolio including use of risk mitigation and distribution tools.

- Demonstrated leadership experience successfully managing and motivating a team.

- Experience underwriting and evaluating credit for Financial Institutions in emerging markets and a working knowledge and comfort with international credit underwriting policies and procedures.

- Understanding of international trade operations, including document examination processes and control procedures.

- Highly motivated self-starter with a proven ability to produce results in a team environment and in close collaboration with relationship team and product teams.

- Demonstrated problem resolution skills.

- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
