Global Financial Reporting AVP / Analyst recruitment
Main Function Duties
The role entails managing the Group Financial Reporting relating to the operations in Asia Pacific. Internally, constant interaction with Country Controllers, PCG, Operations, and Audit is required.
The major duties and responsibilities of the job are:
• Responsibility for IFRS reporting for Asia Pacific countries.
• Complete month end process to convert local GAAP financials to IFRS compliant and to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Investigate, understand and explain to country controllers and management significant movements in the balance sheet PL, in terms of changes in the business as well as movements in the market in general.
• Advise on reporting requirements for new products impacting relevant companies.
• Managing adhoc queries from Head Office.
• Involvement in Finance projects initiatives around reporting changes and controls, process reviews and system enhancements.
The successful candidate must have solid accounting skills with knowledge of IFRS as it applies to Financial Instruments. The candidate must have a strong financial reporting background with familiarity of the financial reporting process in a large financial services company. The candidate must be a clear and confident communicator, and be able to work within a team environment as well as autonomously.
Candidate Specifications
Qualifications / Education required : Qualified Accountant with strong academic background. Graduated (Finance / Commerce) with strong grades (A’s and B’s) from a reputable university; good Honours degree highly preferred
Qualifications / Education preferred : First time passes. Qualified accountant – CA, CPA (or equivalent)
Experience required – 1-3 years post qualification experience
Experience preferred : Experience in
- Financial control/reporting in investment banks or
- Banking audit in first or second tier accounting firms or
- other financial services firm
Skills / Aptitude required
Technical Knowledge
- Strong control skills
- Excellent financial accounting knowledge. Thorough understanding of relevant, up to date technical knowledge in own field.
- Strong financial reporting skills and good familiarity with the process of reporting to head office in a large financial services company
Business Skills
• Ability to prioritize and escalate breaches of policies and procedures as appropriate
• Must be proactive and assertive in driving control improvement for their area
• Ability to take initiative and streamline processes within the team and within the firm
Commercial Effectiveness
- Clear understanding of impact of accounting transactions on financial statements
- Customer focused – consistently meets client needs within constraints of time and resources
- Consistently delivers against targets
- Has good understanding and is up to date on relevant business knowledge.
