Global Fraud Risk Controller
Operational Risk Control (ORC) is an independent function which is responsible for the implementation of the Operational Risk Framework across UBS. The Fraud Risk Control team is a new addition to the ORC function and will be focussed on helping to manage and mitigate the main fraud risks across the Group.
We have created three new global positions within Fraud Risk Control, responsible for developing, implementing and continually improving our Global anti fraud measures aligned to three key business areas. The roles will be aligned to the Investment Bank Global Asset Management, Wealth Management Swiss Bank, and the Corporate Centre (including Group Technology, Security Services, Finance, HR and Procurement), respectively. The ability to build strong relationships and influence change will be a key requirement of the successful applicant.
The Role
The primary objective of Global Fraud Risk Controller is to establish an effective fraud risk framework and ensure that identified risks are properly assessed and have adequate remediation plans to reduce risk to an acceptable level. It is envisaged that each controller will organically build out a team over time. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing, Implementing and Continually Assessing the Divisional Anti Fraud Frameworks
o Defining the anti fraud control framework including identification of tail risk scenarios and associated core controls
o Providing expert guidance on the development of relevant policies and control documentation within the Business Divisions
o Agreeing control monitoring requirements (positive affirmation of effective performance) and providing input to the definition of risk appetite (limits and constraints)
o Establishing and maintaining strong links within the industry to ensure that fraud related industry news and regulatory developments are embedded within the Framework
- Development of an internal network of anti fraud stakeholders, including Business and Divisionally aligned ORC representatives
o Building close links with, and on going support to, ORC BD teams in relation to anti fraud risks and issues
o Providing oversight and coordination of anti fraud activities across IB and GLAM
- Risk Assessment Analysis
o Helping to develop centralised fraud risk metrics and oversight of decentralised Fraud Risk Metrics across the Business Divisions
o Analysis and follow up on fraud indicators and oversight of controls assessments within IB and GLAM
o Assessment of known anti fraud control weaknesses and the adequacy of associated remediation activities
o In partnership with other key areas, coordinating root cause analysis on internal fraud risk events and, where deemed relevant, benchmarking analyses on events that occurred in the industry
- Remediation Reporting
o Input to divisional remediation programmes
o Providing anti fraud assessment status and ensuring escalation of critical anti fraud issues to your business division, and anti fraud oversight committees
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with very strong relationship building and communication skills who has a demonstrated ability to work effectively with and influence people across organizations. The candidate must be a self-starter and entrepreneurial with relevant experience in a global organization and strong knowledge of banking, capital markets / asset management, trading activity and cross-product support functions. Applicants should possess:
- Specific technical knowledge and practical experience of anti fraud frameworks, procedures and controls
- A strong knowledge of internal control design, traded product front-to-back processes, cross-product support (incl. roles and responsibilities) and risk management principles
- Experience in Fraud, Anti-Money Laundering, Compliance or Operational Risk ideally, but would also consider banking experience in a Business role, Operations, Audit and Investigations
- Experience in a global, multicultural, performance-driven organization; must have experience in process and organizational design; knowledge of Basel II and Sarbanes-Oxley preferred
- Investigation / interviewing skills are not a primary requirement of this role
