The Glasgow Finance Division helps senior management and its individual business units manage the firm’s risk by implementing financial controls over our business activities. The division is crucial to safeguarding the firm’s franchise, reporting on current performance, and evaluating business opportunities.

Department:

The Secured and Unsecured Funding teams are part of Global Funding Control (GFC) and are responsible for the product control functions of the Securities Lending, Repo financing, Derivatives Funding businesses (collectively known as Bank Resource Management (BRM)) and Treasury Capital Markets (TCM).

Phoenix Funding is a global project aiming to renovate the accounting model and reporting for funding activities within the Institutional Securities Group.  

Role:
An opening exists to join the GFC team in Glasgow to assist with the transition from the current booking model and reporting to the new Phoenix designed process, and building out a team responsible for the ongoing development and production of the BRM and Treasury Phoenix Balance Sheet and metrics.

Responsibilities will include:

•Management of  team of one or two individuals who will be responsible for the production and development of weekly balance sheet for the Secured and Unsecured Funding businesses.
•Ensuring UAT identified issues are prioritized and addressed, including upstream booking model issues, and working towards a ‘straight through’ efficient process wherever possible.
•Assisting with the transition from weekly to daily reporting process, which will then become the replacement for current daily balance sheet reporting.
•Working closely with the global GFC teams to develop reporting and analytics around balance sheet sources and uses for inclusion in management reporting for senior Finance and BU management
•Coordination of Phoenix releases with the Secured and Unsecured Funding teams and assisting them in the maintenance of existing controls, process and reporting where required

Skills Required
•Excellent communication skills with the capacity to articulate findings and conclusions concisely to all levels, including senior management, both remotely and face to face.
•Ability to manage a team and organize resources flexibly in order to meet tight deadlines.
•Proven analytical and reporting skills, with confidence to question and enhance existing processes.
•Robust individual with confidence to express their opinions.
•Experience of working in a product control environment
•Candidates for the role should be a CCAB qualified accountant.

Skills Desired
•Knowledge of Secured (BRM) and Unsecured (TCM) Funding businesses and related products, including US GAAP classifications thereof.
