Global Head of Finance (Executive Director), Governance recruitment
The Global Head will be responsible for managing the financial planning and analysis side of the PL, and will work closely with the business to provide financial insight and strategic analysis. He/She will be heavily involved in high level strategy, insights, and business analysis.Critical to the success of the role is the need to build strong relationships across the business, and with external stakeholders, ensure that the finance function is deeply embedded in both the day-to-day and longer-term strategic initiatives of the business. Growth ambitions for the business are significant and the Global Head will play a critical role in partnering with the leadership of MSCI to take the business to the next level. This could include negotiating joint venture agreements in new markets or MA. He/she will effectively act as the right hand and business partner to the MD during this period of rapid growth. The role will have 3-4 direct reports.
Specific responsibilities include:
Commercial:
- Strong business partner to the MD, and able to contribute on commercial and strategic issues
- Able to generate insights (as opposed to information) that continuously drive business profitability, understanding the key levers of value creation in the organization
- Ability to handle a wide range of complex issues and multiple projects simultaneously, working to demanding deadlines with minimal supervision
- Active involvement in the pricing, negotiation and management of commercial aspects of large customer contracts
Leadership:
- Form a close knit working relationship with the senior leadership team, providing constructive challenge when appropriate
- Play a key role in the Leadership Team for MSCI Governance
- Lead, mentor and develop a team
Desired Skills Experience
University degree, Master's/MBA a +
- Ideally, ACA, CPA or CMA qualified but not a prerequisite. More important is a strong FPA track record
- Proven experience in a regional Head of Finance or FPA role including experience in planning, analyzing and reporting on financial transactions
- Approximately 10-15 years experience obtained within a large reputable organization, ideally in sectors including financial services, business information, enterprise software, or another strong financial company. Must understand the dynamics of financial markets
- Background in a customer focused business would be an advantage, as would experience of pricing, negotiating and managing contracts.

- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate effectively within a constantly changing environment
- A confident communicator with a strong influencing style
- “Can do” attitude, with proven ability to deliver results and manage change effectively within large, complex organizations
