Global Pricing Unit, Asia Pacific – Equities recruitment
Specific Responsibilities:
Areas of responsibility are
1. Governance of independent price testing
o Work with GPU London to set GBM standards and policy on independent price testing.
o Monitor, challenge and police the work performed by Product Control/Market Risk across GBM globally.
o Investigate independent pricing issues.
o Consolidate, Report and escalate issues to senior management.
o Identify control enhancements and process improvements.
o Develop new/revised independent pricing methodologies for products/markets globally.
2. Valuation and reserving policies methodologies
o Work with GPU London to set reserving policies in Asia across all business lines.
o Work with BUC to develop reserving methodologies for new products/markets in Asia.
o Review reserving methodologies for existing products.
o Ensure consistency across products, desks and geographical locations.
o Monitor and challenge BUC controllers’ reserve production processes.
o Consolidate and escalate valuation related issues to senior management and market risk.
3. Review of valuation models
o Execute Finance responsibility in relation to the review and re-evaluate new and existing models in Asia, including:
• Review of new models including one-off/non-standard deals in order to provide BUC sign off.
• Perform model output testing (as a test of the validity of the model).
• Develop and implement new/revised reserving and independent pricing methodologies (see sections 1 and 2 above).
• Report and escalate model related issues to senior management and market risk.
4. Ad hoc valuation related work
o Undertake valuation investigations and reviews at the request of senior management.
o Investigate issues raised by BUC controllers, Market Risk, Group Risk, Front Office, Compliance and other functions.
o Undertake valuation projects relating to risk management, new market developments and new system valuation methodologies.
o Provide cross departmental training on products, models and markets.
Essential Experience:
- Appreciation of valuation control concepts and requirements relating to derivative trading activity in a banking environment. This is most likely to have been acquired through a role/s in product control, market risk or related areas;
- Familiar with valuation of Equities financial products and hands on experience with financial models; Candidates with additional experience with Interest Rate and Credit would be given priority.
- Strong financial markets derivative product knowledge acquired through similar roles.
- Strong academic background and academic record
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Supplementary Experience (useful additional skills):
• Strong control sense;
• Strong spreadsheet modelling, VBA skills;
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• University academic qualification from a Mathematics, Financial Engineering, Science or background
