Global Procurement Specialist (H/F) Job in Eden Prairie 55344, Minnesota US

GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is responsible for coordinating the activities for overseas sourcing as well as the planning and purchasing activities for new material releases and changes to those materials.  Analyze MRP reports to make buying decisions based on lead time and availability of materials.  This position works closely with employees in other locations and must have good working relationships with our vendors to create partnerships that will benefit both parties.

 

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

·        Review and authorize material procurement, warehousing and distributing of raw materials and finished goods; controlling and scheduling of material flow for overseas new release or changed materials.

·        Place purchase orders to support manufacturing and engineering requirements

·        Source and negotiate terms with suppliers on current and new products

·        Plan future requirements of raw materials based on forecasts. 

·        Maintain master data in ERP system

·        Coordination of phase gate 2/3 requirements and documentation.

·        Maintain first article database with accurate information

·        Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) and communicate document changes to suppliers and Asia/Pacific Office.  Assist ECA’s in determining effective dates.

·        Monitor Advanced Shipping Notifications (ASN’s) to ensure accuracy of MRP data for products shipped from overseas.

·        Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities

·        Regularly monitor commodity costs globally to determine affects on finished good and component COGS.  Relay information to Management.

·        Assist in qualifying new vendors

·        Work closely with Director – Global Procurement to gain work direction and to obtain assistance in escalated problem resolution

·        Recommend and assist in development of purchasing-related processes and procedures

·        With regard to new product sourcing, coordinate with Asia/Pacific Purchasing, US and Asia/Pacific Engineering, Quality/Design Assurance, Manufacturing Engineers, and Product Management to ensure schedules are communicated accurately.  Communicate commitment concerns to Product Management or Director – Global Procurement.

·        Review vendor capacity and sourcing consolidation on certain commodities that contain common characteristics or shared components.

·        Responsible for purchase order files, invoices and related purchasing records.

·        Consistently support compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations

·        Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

·        Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, and a minimum of two (2) years experience working in a purchasing function in a manufacturing environment; or combination of relevant education and experience
 

Special Job Requirements:

·        May require frequent availability and communication during non-standard business hours to communicate with global team members

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Degree with emphasis in inventory and purchasing/materials management

·        Knowledge of MRP-based software systems

·        Knowledge of APICS

·        Knowledge of Inventory Management

·        Understanding of Lean Manufacturing

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

·        While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required (for the majority of the working day) to sit and make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard.

·        Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

·        General office environment

·        May require regular ground travel to other company facilities within local metropolitan area
