Global Tax Accountant – Vice President recruitment
BlackRock's Finance team is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance and control of the financial resources of BlackRock and its subsidiaries. The Finance Group is comprised of four units: Accounting Policy, Tax and Controls; Business Finance; Treasury; and Corporate Controllers.
BlackRock is seeking a Vice President of Global Tax Accounting based in our New York City headquarters to manage the monthly and quarterly tax closing and reporting processes including the FIN 18 tax rate and provision calculations and effective tax rate analysis. We do business in over 25 countries and well over 20 states, often in environments subject to financial regulation.
In this role, the Vice President will be the primary preparer in connection with BlackRock's Global Tax Accounting Function as follows:
- Includes determining discrete items on a consolidated and legal entity basis.
- Calculate the current and deferred tax reporting for all domestic legal entities.
- Review non-U.S. tax provision calculations and coordinate with non-U.S. tax departments to resolve income tax accounting issues.
- Coordinate with the Controller's Group and Business Finance Team to obtain and analyze forecasted PL's and evaluate the income tax accounting impact. Analyze variances to determine impact on tax accounting.
- Research and implement new accounting pronouncements with tax accounting implications. Liaise with Accounting Policy and Controller's Group on emerging tax accounting issues.
- Prepare tax footnotes and other income tax disclosures for SEC filings.
- Coordinate with external attest auditors on income tax accounting issues.
- Maintain and improve tax account reconciliation policies and procedures.
- Maintain SOX 404 internal control procedures for tax accounting and ensure all processes are properly documented and tested. Coordinate with internal and external attest auditors for control testing.
- Ensure legal entity tax basis balance sheets properly reflect all tax accounts.
- Evaluate all existing tax accounting processes for continuous improvement.
- Assist with automating and digitizing the global accounting process utilizing third party software.
- Supervise and develop staff, including on a remote basis.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting. CPA/MST preferred.
- 8+ years of diverse tax accounting experience in public accounting.
- Hands on knowledge of ASC 740 (FAS 109 including exposure/experience to FAS 109 software programs - TaxStream, Global Access) and uncertain tax positions.
- Able to manage and develop subordinates.
- Solid communication skills to work with other Finance teams and international colleagues.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and the pressures associated with SEC financial statement filings and quarterly earnings releases.
- Excellent analytical/problem solving skills and written verbal communication skills.
- Strong work-paper and documentation skills.
- Technological proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, TaxStream (preferred), etc.
- Experience with Hyperion Financial Management and Oracle systems (preferred).
