Experienced Systems Engineer required to help monitor and support global network of over 500 sites for FTSE100 company.

 

Core Media Technologies is seeking to recruit a Systems Engineer to join its Global Network Operations Centre team in London. CMT is part of WPP, the largest advertising and marketing services company in the world. WPP has more than 100,000 employees working in 1400 offices in over 100 countries. From its offices in London, Hong Kong and New York, CMT provides support to much of the WPP group, liaising directly with global, regional, local IT staff throughout EMEA and the rest of the world.


Systems Engineer, Global Network Operations Centre

CMT's GNOC operates 24x7 on a follow-the-sun basis and performs monitoring, management, administration and support for servers, networks and devices for CMT customers. The GNOC is the first point of contact for CMT customers for incident resolution and service requests.

 

Duties/responsibilities of this position:

• Actively monitors CMT customer environments

• Acts as first point of contact for CMT customers

• Performs troubleshooting for WAN, Active Directory, email, and server issues; assesses scope and impact of issues

• Responds to alerts and messages from monitoring tools

• Performs email and active directory administration

• Enters service requests and incidents into service desk tool

• Escalates unresolved incidents to subject-matter experts

• Communicates major incidents and outages to CMT customers and CMT staff

• Works rotating shifts and weekends in accordance with the GNOC schedule

• Performs daily checks and shift handover

 

The ideal candidate would have the following experience:

• Solid general Information Technology experience

• 3–5 years experience of administering and managing Local Area Network environments

• 3–5 years experience of building and supporting server hardware configurations

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2000/2003/2007 and Active Directory

• Good working knowledge of DNS and TCP/IP

• 2–3 years experience administering and supporting Microsoft Exchange

• Good working knowledge of Network and WAN technologies

• 1–2 years experience supporting Cisco routers, firewalls, and switches

• Working knowledge of HP OpenView or other network monitoring systems

• Good working knowledge of Sophos Anti-Virus

• Ability to multitask to a very high standard

• Self-starter who requires little supervision

• Possess good troubleshooting skills

• Fluency in another language would be a plus (esp Mandarin, Spanish, French, or Eastern European languages)
