Job Description

- Developing an intimate understanding of our coating process, equipment, raw materials, and test requirements, and their relationship to end-use performance
- Identifying and driving innovative process and equipment projects for improved safety, cost, quality, capability, and capacity
- Developing collaborative relationships with our partner sites around the world
- Creating and driving project plans, including buy-in and resourcing from multiple locations
- Actively participating in new-product development and technology efforts
- Measuring, understanding, and documenting the science of the process, matching fitness-for-use requirements to process measurements and set points
- Understanding existing quality-control (QC) methods and developing new methods that are appropriate predictors of end-use performance
- Performing development, scale-up, and validation of processes, equipment, and raw materials
- Applying troubleshooting techniques to determine root cause of process concerns associated with high-volume manufacturing
- Transferring process understanding to the production team
- Interacting with raw-material and equipment suppliers
- Managing a workload of multiple technical projects, which includes understanding the associated priority, timelines, and selection rationale for each project
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- At least 5 years' process engineering experience
- Demonstrated history of identifying critical issues, setting direction and defining actions to address critical issues, and executing against that framework to complete projects
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including ability to successfully lead cross-functional or global teams, communicate effectively, and influence others
- Solid knowledge of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to apply them in the course of development, optimization, and troubleshooting activities
- Experience successfully driving large, complex technical projects involving a global team
- Working knowledge of statistical tools such as designed experimentation, process validation, and/or statistical process control (SPC) in manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated history of documenting work appropriately
- Ability to:
- Drive continuous improvement in production processes
- Multitask and prioritize
- Experience with:
- Web-handling processes
- Low-viscosity coating and drying processes
- Textiles and nonwoven materials
- Applying lean manufacturing tools and concepts
