FC is a recognised global market leader in providing responsible investment products and services. We launched the first ethical fund in the UK in 1984 and have since developed additional funds and responsible investment products. FC now provides a range of ethically-screened funds (including the Stewardship range of ethical funds, FC’s Global Ethical Bond and the Sharia Sustainable Opportunities fund), thematic funds (Global Climate Opportunities, Emerging Market ESG) and an engagement and voting service (reo®).
FC’s Governance Sustainable Investment (GSI) team is one of the largest in Europe with members located in London and Boston. We have a vacancy for a specialist in the Governance Sustainable Investment team, working with our clients in the Dutch and Northern European markets to deliver the reo® service and other responsible investment products, and also contributing to company engagement and to broader business development. The role will be based in London but involve regular travel.
Summary of Role
- Working with FC client directors to grow, develop and improve the responsible investment services offered to clients in the Netherlands and Northern Europe.
- Responding to client, prospect, and press queries related to FC’s range of responsible investment products.
- Monitoring and participating in market developments around responsible investment trends across Europe, with a particular focus on the Netherlands, and using this to contribute to business development in the GSI team
- Engaging companies with the aim of encouraging them to improve their ESG practices in order to safeguard investor value.
- Communicating clearly on engagement objectives, status and outcomes to inform clients and the overall engagement strategy.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Plays a leading role in maintaining FC’s reputation as a leader in governance and sustainable investment by involvement in the following activities, as defined in the annual Individual Performance Review:
Business Development Strategy
Contributing to the departmental strategy for continuous improvement, innovation and commercial success of GSI products, policies and services.
Client Servicing
Overseeing and contributing to the delivery of professional support for marketing, sales and client servicing for GSI clients and products.
Communication
Overseeing and implementing effective internal communication and external communication to clients, companies and the press.
Engagement
Contributing to the delivery of FC’s market-leading engagement service (reoÒ).
Management and Administration
Contributing to effective management and administration of the GSI team through implementing business systems and processes and contributing to team development and effectiveness.
Requirements:
Qualifications and experience:
- Undergraduate and/or postgraduate qualifications of relevance to governance sustainable investment
- Five or more years experience of work in the area of finance and/or governance sustainability
- Proven experience in client servicing and business development
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, in Dutch and English, in writing and in the spoken word
Technical skills should include some or all of the following:
- Strong written and verbal communications/presentations skills that can be adapted to diverse audiences
- Understanding of environmental, social and governance aspects of business
- Fluency in English and Dutch. Additional language skills a clear plus.
- Solid understanding of asset management and financial markets, and an ability to demonstrate the investment relevance of ESG issues
- Strong IT skills – Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
