Government Legislative AffairsDirector
Develop and implement legislative and political strategies and programs to support Rockwell Collins initiatives and protect or promote company interests in the U.S. Congress and federal regulatory agencies. Represents the Company's position on legislative, policy and regulatory affairs to members of Congress and their staff, key decision makers and staff in the Executive Branch agencies and other government related Washington organization. Participates and holds leadership position on civil and defense industry groups, trade associations and regional business councils working with similar organizations, compounding market influence to direct policy, regulations and legislation in favor of the Company's business interests. Specific Duties/Responsibilities include: Establishing, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with members of Congress and their staff, key Executive branch and federal agency officials, defense and commercial aerospace associations and industry coalitions Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the Company's strategic directions in order to effectively identify, represent and advocate company positions and interests before Congress and federal regulatory bodies, and as a member of applicable trade associations and public policy organizations Researching, analyzing, and evaluating proposed and existing federal legislation and regulations with major policy or political implications for the Company and its share holders Collaboratively advising, identifying and developing, with relevant business unit Level 1 and 2 leaders, comprehensive recommendations on defense, corporate and civil aviation engagement strategies to further business and policy priorities for the Company. Communicating directly with company executives to provide timely updates on status and progress of legislative and regulatory issues Preparing letters, talking points, issue summaries, and white papers related to relevant regulatory and legislative topics for legal review and dissemination to stakeholders Informing, engaging and negotiating with a broad and diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to positively impact legislative and regulatory outcomes Building and managing industry and legislative coalitions to assist in accomplishing key objectives Representing the Company at appropriate political, association and other related events.
