Hays are working with The Ministry of Defence to recruit a GP to work with the British Army in Colchester Essex.

Merville Barracks is one of the largest garrison bases in the UK that houses some of the British Army's finest soldiers, including the world famous Parachute Regiment who have contributed to important skirmishes in world war 2, Iraq and Afghanistan to name a few.

The job itself is working for the MoD as a civilian medical practitioner, where you will be required to work in the medical centre on the barracks. You will be responsible for providing first-rate care to service personnel. Duties will include on-site pharmacy dispensing, occupational health care, immunisations, travel advice, preparation for deployment, health promotion, and care of in-patients with minor illness or post operative needs.

You must be registered with the General Medical Council both on the main register and on the GMC GP register; You must also have medical insurance and be on a PCT Performers List.

Desirable Requirements:

Experience of working within military general practice/ British Forces Germany Health Service.
Familiar with the EMIS PCS/ Defence Medical Information Capability Programme.
Provide military occupational medicine advice, and be able to take part in medical boards, release medical etc.
