Graduate IT Support Engineer Job in Bicester OX26 4QZ, Home Counties UK

 

Our Bicester client is looking for an IT Support Engineer to provide 1st and 2nd line IT operational support for their main site and 2 other local offices. The business uses servers/desktops/laptops/thin clients/smart phones/mobile computers/LANs/managed switches/printers/scanners and other peripherals such as digital cameras.

 

As you will be required to occasionally visit other local offices; therefore a full driving license and own transport is essential.

 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Providing assistance to end users with IT and communication related problems and logging calls accordingly

·         Installing and configuring IT hardware and software

·         Daily monitoring and backup of email and network servers

·         Handling, ordering and stock control of IT consumables

·         Basic training of users as and where required

·         Assisting with the maintenance of the company website

·         Assisting the IT Manager with other projects, as required

 

REQUIRED SKILL-SET:

·         Previous experience of providing 1st 2nd level IT Helpdesk support at a business level

·         Installing, Configuring and supporting Microsoft Windows XP/Vista 7 in a domain environment

·         Good MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

·         Understanding of smart phone technology

·         Workings of a Printer and troubleshooting faults

·         Experience with Wireless technologies

·         Good communication skills

 

DESIRABLE SKILL SET:

·         Veritas (Symantec) Backup Exec

·         Knowledge of an Avaya Telephone System or similar

·         Good knowledge of VBA with excel

·         An understanding of Windows domain environments, including Windows Server, AD, exchange, DHCP, DNS etc.

·         Network troubleshooting
