Graduate Software Developer - Newport - £18,000-£25,000
Our client requires graduate software developers with strong technology domain experience, the willingness to tackle challenging technical problems and develop new technology skills. Can you successfully combine an aptitude for technical problem solving with a collaborative and communicative style of working? You will be working on exciting projects across all of this organisation's clients delivering world class systems development and integration services.
What you will be doing...
Working as part of a larger project team you will be expected to effectively and efficiently design and develop software applications to the high quality that is expected from all our client's projects. You will work with strong developers in a dynamic atmosphere and you will be expected to work in conjunction with the company's team and with our clients and delivery partners.
You will be given responsibility to deliver on a client project which could include:
- Contribute to the design and development of quality software solutions within a project plan, helping to address challenging solution requirements.
- Develop to a standard that will allow us to deliver solutions that are modular, scalable, extendable and portable.
- Produce robust, clear, polished code to an agreed timeframe
- Deliver on infrastructure and hardware projects or be responsible for testing solutions for our clients.
- Software development (using Java, or Software Application Support Analysis (offering forth-line support and application management to our clients)

What we are looking for...
We are looking for self-starting, well-motivated individuals with the following skills:
Essential:
- Strong GCSE's including A's or B's in English and Maths; as well as at least 3 A-levels at grade A and B.
- High level of numeracy and literacy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative
- Effective problem solving and organisation skills
- Minimum 2:1 degree (in a Computer Science or related numerate degree) or an equivalent professional qualification
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Able to work flexible hours as required
- Passionate about software and technology
Desirable:
- Previous placement experience in Consulting or Software development role
- Proficiency in an object oriented programming language (e.g. Java, C++, C#)
- Proficiency in database programming (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)
- Working knowledge of Ruby On Rails
- Working knowledge of Agile (Kanban) development technique would be useful
