Grains Category Manager recruitment

Our portfolio contains many of the world’s favourite drinks brands, including no less than 8 of the world’s top 20 spirit brands, yet we still have much more to achieve.

This is a role that operates globally across multiple business units, managing 3 key supply centres across Europe and North America which supply to 15 production sites in Europe and 10 internationally.

The grains category contains a diverse range of products, including malted barley, feed barley, wheat, malt, hops, yeast and co-products. Challenges include a political and media focus on purchasing cereals in Ireland and Scotland, changing local market regulations, risk and regulations in meeting ‘food grade’ needs and managing security of supply.

Your particular focus will be on Scottish distilling, brewing in Ireland and strategic sourcing in North America. You’ll also seek new ways of working across the developed markets, and play a key role in influencing the sourcing decisions of stakeholders across market supply operations.

Taking leadership of developing a category excellence management approach, you’ll look to increase our expertise in this area and in overall category management around the world. While leading the category across geographical and cultural boundaries with dispersed teams will require in depth analysis and understanding of our supply base, wider supply market and supplier consolidation.

Risk management, quality, service and cost will all be key measures of your success, as will driving innovation, creating value, maximising differentiation and ensuring responsible corporate citizenship.  Of graduate calibre in a relevant quantitative or commercial discipline, you’ll also have experience in a Category Management role, gained in a similarly complex, leading edge business.

An impressive track record in procurement in the field of agricultural products, traded commodities and of developing and operating price risk management is imperative.

You’ll also have demonstrable experience of successfully leading people, projects and programmes, managing a diverse stakeholder community within a global supply marketplace.
