Amtrak has an immediate opportunity available for a Grants Administrator in our Finance department in Washington, DC. The Grants Administrator will use oral and written communications, budgeting, financial analysis, and administrative skills to help coordinate the planning and implementation of a comprehensive transportation grants program supporting the priorities, goals, and strategies of the Company. This position is required to help Amtrak staff apply for grants, meet reporting and compliance requirements of awards, and maintain best practices for the administration of grant funds. Research and identify grant funding opportunities. Gather data and assist in preparing application packages. Maintain files and electronic records of grant documents according to generally accepted best practices for grants management. Document administrative requirements of grant awards, keep a calendar of deadlines, and work with staff to ensure and maintain compliance. Work with various staff to verify grant related data and set up grant funded projects in Amtrak systems. Analyze grant expenditures and activities to ensure they are allowable according to agreements, bringing deficiencies to the attention of authorities. Gather and analyze financial and narrative data, submit reports to provide context for management decisions and to fulfill grantor requirements. Prepare required periodic grant reports and payment requests. Assist with gathering and submitting data for A-133 audits. Train and provide technical guidance to Amtrak personnel on the grant applications and administration processes. Other tasks, as assigned, to support the Office of Grant Administration.
