Graphic Design Manager Job in New York, New York US


The Johnson Johnson Global Strategic Design Office is recruiting for a Graphic Design Manager. This position will be based in the Global Design Center in New York, NY. The Johnson Johnson Global Strategic Design Office has provided the expertise, vision, and strategy for global design activities for the company, including overall brand design, packaging, customer experience and visual materials.

The Design Manager is responsible for executing the design projects that make up the business plan and for carrying out the creative vision as set by the Design Directors. Design managers are responsible for the strategic direction of projects via brand equity, brand architecture, and design language. As the creative force behind the development of innovative designs, Design Managers drive solutions that best fit the brands' image and lead to a competitive advantage. Design Managers are responsible for project management activities for multi-functional teams and external partners. Design Managers are responsible for leading teams to execute and deliver multiple projects.

Primary Responsibilities:
Execute the projects and initiatives set forth in the annual business plan, as well as supplemental and design-led initiatives
Advocate, drive, and execute environmentally sustainable and low-impact design solutions
Utilize knowledge of design and cultural trends to guide solutions
Manage relationships and results of external vendors
Manage, develop, and mentor team of designers
Responsible for managing project budget
Demonstrates strategic insights and design vision for:
Brand identity and/or Packaging Design
Product Innovation and/or Industrial Design
Partner cross-functionally to develop and implements project briefs
Manage multiple projects with critical deadlines

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of design related experience
Understanding of design strategy methods and practices
Bachelor's degree required/ Master's preferred in Design or related field
Demonstrate strong visual, written, and oral communication skills
Up to 50% hands-on design work
Experience with cross-platform (Mac PC) software application and document management
Demonstrate strong presentation skills
Experience with design-related software
Prior management experience preferred
Consumer Package Goods industry experience preferred
Broad understanding of environmentally responsible design and packaging
