Groundskeeper Job in Aurora 80016, Colorado US

               

Position Summary (Brief description of job)

The position of Groundskeeper performs skilled landscaping and manual work necessary to maintain campus grounds and irrigation systems. The work requires the ability to oversee the work of others, and possess a working knowledge of grasses, irrigation, and the equipment required for their upkeep.

 

Essential Job Functions (Responsibilities)

·         Mow and edge grass areas

·         Maintain native seed areas

·         Maintain athletic fields, tennis courts, stadium, track, and parking lots

·         Generally maintain upkeep of campus to include entrances and courtyards

·         Maintain growth and vitality of trees, bushes and shrubs

·         Renovate fields with top dressings, seed, fertilizer, etc. as directed

·         Layout and stripe athletic field

·         Assist Lead Groundskeeper with coordination of duties for JUG and grant  students

·         Assist with preparation for athletic events and outside rental of athletic fields

·         Repair, maintain and install irrigation

·         Assist with snow removal

·         Assist with traffic control as required

·         Help set up for school functions in school buildings

·         Assist with building maintenance and repair as requested

·         Actively support and participate in the school Mission, educational goals, and religious programs.

 

Training Documentation

 

·         Contribute and provide input to department procedures.

·         Document expenditures and communicate with the Facilities Manager regarding departmental expenses, income, and budgets.

 

Consultation and Committees

 

·         Participate and support the department through individual communication, consultations with the Facilities Manager, and in department meetings.

·         Attend all maintenance meetings and provide reports on current activities.

·         Attend construction meetings, as needed.

·         Properly utilize school communication tools such as e-mail, phone, computer network folders.

·         Participate in all-employee and other appropriate meetings, retreats, and training activities.

·         Participates with other consultants and committees as assigned.

 

Requirements (Education, Experience, Required/Preferred Skills)

Property landscape knowledge, including, but not limited to:

·         Proper mowing procedures and equipment maintenance

·         Irrigation installation and repair

·         Fertilization and chemical application

·         Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment

·         Snow removal procedures

·         Knowledge of safety precautions and practices

·         Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

 

 

Work Conditions (includes physical requirements)

·         Be able to lift up to 60 lbs.

·         Current Colorado Driver’s license

·         Ability to operate a variety of large and small equipment used for general landscape.

·         Ability to operate a snowplow truck.
