Group Finance Assistant

The main purpose of the role is to provide support to the Group Finance Manager in the effective and efficient running of the Finance Department.

To assist the Group Finance Manager with the daily upkeep of the relevant ledgers in order for the production of monthly management accounts for the Group and its subsidiaries.

Tasks could include:

Collation and sorting of incoming information from outside sources.
Inputting purchase invoices with correct authorisation and matching procedures.
Inputting sales information, either from sales invoices raised or sales summaries for till receipts.
Dealing with ledger queries, telephone calls and finance e-mails.
Credit Control – including statement production and customer liaison.
Payment of suppliers – by BACS – and obtaining new customer BACS information.
Statement reconciliations.
Employee expenses/company credit card expenses.
Reconciliations of group bank and credit card accounts and petty cash.
Assist with accurate administration all aspects of payroll production for UK employees to strict time scales in conjunction with the HR function
Support the Group Finance Director and Group Finance Manager in the continual development and delivery and management of financial systems and procedures throughout the organisation
Working closely with the Group Finance Manager, develop a clear understanding of the production of the management information and accounts with a view to becoming proficient in supervised production of agreed information after a period of training and development
Support the Group Finance Manager with the adherence to legislative and statutory reporting
Undertake any other appropriate tasks as directed by the Group Finance Director or Group Finance Manager in the effective administration of the finance function and the group as a whole.
In conjunction with the Group Finance Director/Manager set monthly targets in order to ensure that all activity is focussed on achieving or exceeding KPI targets
Work closely with all individuals within the organisation and use their strengths and knowledge to deliver accurate and timely data in order to manage the finance function effectively and efficiently
Maintain the confidentiality of internal communications, records and commercially sensitive information.
 
Person specification:
AAT qualified or pursuing this qualification.
Experience of:
Working in a finance environment for a minimum of two years
Use of recognised financial packages, notably Sage Line 50.
Use of Microsoft Excel and other associated packages.
Dealing with phone and e-mail queries from internal and external customers efficiently and effectively.
High level of customer service skills and interaction with internal and external customers.
Use of computerised database management systems.
