Group Head of Treasury
Purpose and Scope
Oversees the Bank's liquidity portfolio to maximize profits while ensuring the safety and liquidity of investments. Plan, direct and control trading and investment practices to ensure accomplishment of corporate investment goals within established policy. Contributes to the Bank's financial analysis function.
Key Responsibilities
Manages the Bank’s consolidated balance sheet with specific responsibility for liquidity management, rate management and, foreign exchange dealing on behalf of the Bank and its customers and in compliance with Central Bank regulations.
Acts as the chairman of the ALCO (Assets and Liabilities Committee), confers with its members for making decisions on matters such as pricing policy for the Bank’s active assets and liabilities, credit and risk management, international operations etc.
Delegates, monitors and controls treasury process transactions, deals, limits, and maintains accurate accounting records for transactions and to cover documentation requirements.
Contributes to the development and refining of the investment strategy for the Bank, and contributes to the overall process of management and corporate decision making to ensure the Bank maximizes its short, medium and long term profitability returns to its shareholders.
Assists in developing, recommending and ensures the implementation of policies and procedures for the Treasury Department that will support the achievement of the Bank’s business aims.
Contributes to the annual departmental business plan and provides input for longer term strategy development in order that Bank objectives of growth, market share and profitability can be achieved.
Contributes to establishing interest rate and economic projections for the Asset/Liability Model in order to develop strategies in asset allocation, liquidity, pricing, and hedging within accepted risk limits.
Obtains approval from ALKO on various items, including, but not limited to, products, trading limits on FX, and Derivatives.
Monitors P L for Foreign Exchange and Off Balance Sheet Instruments. Develops FX, MM and interest earning security policies in light of any changes in the international financial environment in order to maximize the profits of the Bank.
Participates in the selection and development of staff. Interviews, coaches, advises, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines personnel. Reviews recommendations of subordinate managerial and supervisory staff and provides guidance in resolving complex or sensitive problems. Maintains and promotes positive employee relations in the work environment.
Prepares, secures approval, and implements department operating budget and operates within those guidelines.
Maintains updated knowledge of rules, regulations and standards in the field and related matters of interest to the department.
Participates in the various cross-functional committees/teams for multiple purposes to achieve optimal cooperation and to assume seamless quality service.
Performs other duties in line with scope of work and as instructed by the direct manager.
