Team Overview:
Commodities Global Business Services are responsible for the processing of physical and derivative products for the commodities business. Commodities GBS have a presence in London, Frankfurt, New York, Singapore, Bangalore and Mumbai.
The Commodities GBS Dry Bulk Freight TMG team covers Coal, Freight Iron Ore.
The team is a hybrid of elements of the traditional product control role, trade support and logistics support.
We support the commodities front office teams as they continue to build out the Asia focused business – providing risk management and physical coal iron ore trading supply capabilities to customers throughout this dynamic market.
Job responsibilities:
- Ensuring the complete timely fulfillment of all DB’s contractual requirements in the coal and iron ore businesses, including all aspects of shipping, storage and transit
- Ensuring integrity and control of PnL and Risk.
- The role requires active engagement and appreciation of all stakeholder groups downstream (IT, GBS OPS, GBS FinCon, CMV, Credit). Participation in GBS control calls, and working across groups to ensure controls are in place and remediation of issues as appropriate
- Controlling and building out the performance of our onshore, nearshore and offshore TMG locations
- Working with the Dry Bulk Freight trading desk and key stakeholders on new business initiatives to ensure front to back control under GBS.

- Use of all front end risk management trading systems (RMS), as well as Reuters, Bloomberg.
- Liason with Trading, Sales, GBS Operations, GBS Financial Control Finance Manager/Finance Director Level.
- Close cooperation and communication with staff in other trading hubs, banks, clients, also delivery and storage companies.
Candidate requirements:
- Graduate with a 2.1 or better in scientific, numerate or business related subject.
- Advanced MS office skills

- Finance background - There is significant focus on control so front to back trade lifecycle knowledge is an advantage, from trade entry through to general ledger.
- Commodities knowledge of shipping, logistics, scheduling and fry bulk freight practices.
- Strong analytical skills. Ability to assimilate information quickly and investigate issues promptly through to resolution.
- Experience of driving change forward and liaison and co-ordination of various functions
- Proactive own initiative and ability to assert oneself
- Understanding of core trade types – swaps, options, futures, deposits and also physical deliveries.
- Attention to detail is essential
- Ability to focus and prioritise in a high pressure environment
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills
- Sustained exposure to liaising internally with IT teams and business users in the context of programme deliverables
- A professional candidate who is self-motivated, enthusiastic and works with minimum supervision
- Excellent communicator, articulate and well presented. Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels of management and to a wide global user base
- Extreme attention to accuracy, detail, presentation and timeliness of delivery.
- Proven team player who “goes the extra mile” in striving to provide quality service.
- A lateral thinker who can explore concepts “outside the box” in search of improvements and solutions
- Two to three years strong iron ore logistics experience, physical coal and other bulk goods would also be desirable.
- Detailed exposure to letters of credit and associated shipping documentation for a physical transport business is vital to the role.
- Strong understanding of a trading business and the functions performed by trade support.
- Prior knowledge of banking controls beneficial.
