Position overview:

The Engineering Manager has accountability for delivering the Engineering strategy and plan, translating the regional strategy into a sub-regional/country context. The focus is on achieving greater consistency through industrialisation, and delivering price/value options for clients, leveraging increased automation and use of technology to ensure GLS-CRES Service Delivery Management (SDM) is fully aligned and integrated.

The role holder will be responsible for service and quality assurance, and for managing local vendor partners, proactively re-engineering services to meet client requirements, the GLS-CRES strategy, and provide responsive, industry-leading services and support to the business. The role holder has responsibility for sub-regional/country workstream performance outcomes and communication/engagement with clients and GLS-CRES colleagues, enabling them to understand how they are benefiting from and/or contributing to the Service Delivery business strategy.

Job responsibilities:

Business Leadership

• Manages the sub-regional/country Engineering workstream actively supporting colleagues and driving DB/GLS/CRES change initiatives to deliver continuous performance improvement.
• Builds and maintains diverse relationships inside and outside Deutsche Bank. Collaborates with colleagues and influences activities to achieve positive outcomes in the interests of the wider DB business.
• Promotes collaboration within the Engineering workstream, across GLSCRES and with vendor partners.
• Own and maintains the CRES / IES business relationship at an operational level.

Management Decision-Making

• Creates medium-term plans and forecasts based on business strategy and external benchmarks. • Owns the Engineering work stream interface with the BW team at a regional level.Implements work stream budget planning and management processes. • Implements and monitors sub-regional/country-level performance management processes, tools and systems to drive high performance. Responsible for the monthly financial reporting for Engineering including variance reporting and forecasting and the monthly capacity reporting for Engineering including project planning and forecasting. • Ensures timely delivery of independently verified Management Information to meet regular and ad hoc requests.

People Management

• Supports and operates in an environment where people management and development is the number one priority. Provides coaching to colleagues and direct reports and others in the organisation as appropriate.
• Actively supports and delivers the GTO, strategy, plans and values demonstrating high performance and efficient decision making.
• Proactively manages tough people decisions to ensure people performance is aligned with organisation imperatives and needs, escalating as required.
• Addresses individual performance issues, where necessary, to drive for high performance.

Compliance

• Works with the Risk Management team and ensures focus on statutory compliance across all projects.

Vendor Management

• Manages the relationship with, and regularly reviews performance of, sub-regional/country workstream vendors against agreed performance measures.
• Gathers qualitative and quantitative information and conducts timely and accurate performance data analysis to ensure service delivery effectiveness.

Domain Specific:

• Supports Regional Manager Engineering with management, budgeting and reporting of the capital expenditure portfolio, including the timely and accurate production of the Rolling Capital Plan (RCP), engineering system capacity reporting, energy analysis, project oversight and project design.
• Ensures that the operational control and delivery of Engineering services, in support of Deutsche Bank’s business operations is of the highest standards and that they are operated and maintained at minimum risk to the Bank’s business operations. This includes all the operations and maintenance activities underpinning this service provision for the complete critical systems, achieving required 24/7 uptime performance in all buildings.
• Work with the Sub-Regional/Country Business Partner in gaining client approval for Engineering related initiatives. Delivers leadership and direction to product development / launch.
• Responsible for energy management and sustainability programme ownership as it relates to Engineering. Ensures ownership for delivery of the sub-region/country energy management and sustainability programme.

Candidate requirements:

• Experience in a management role and in managing and leading programmes.
• Experience working in the Financial Services/Management industry.
• Communication, influencing, presentation and strong business planning skills.
• Domain knowledge of the CRES business and business processes, able to act as Subject Matter Expert as required.
• Strong team leader player, able to work in global, virtual teams in a matrix organization.
• Diploma (or equivalent) in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/or equivalent) from an accredited college or university (or equivalent).
• LEED accreditation or regional professional engineering status recommended
