Summary
The Lead Software Release Manager is responsible for providing release management coordination, support, and assistance in all aspects of major application releases and the delivery of cross-application-projects. This includes especially the consolidation of application domain needs and to drive and moderate stakeholder management decisions. The Software Release Manager drives the application lifecycle based on quality gates of the software releases.
The Software Release Manager leads a team to ensure a quality gate based delivery of changed software items to production environment that adheres to the established release management methodology and standards while carrying out their responsibilities.
Tasks / Responsibilities
- Responsibility for the management of large releases / cross-application project deliveries
- Manage releases within scope, quality and time
- Uses standard program/project management tools and techniques appropriately
- Ensure that Software Application Release / Deployment plans are in agreement with Project Managers Application Owners whose CTB RTB needs would be met by the Release
- Ensure explicit clarity to all stakeholders on what the scope includes – considering fresh software, modifications, retrofits patches being included into the Software Application Release.
- Ensure consistent communications to all stakeholders on Application Release aspects, in a timely manner
- Execute the software application release management lifecycle steps, ensuring all applicable pre-requisites (including approvals) are satisfied at each stage.
- Proactively initiate, develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members. Demonstrate the ability to cooperate with a variety of people and achieve results.
- Management of areas release calendar into test and production environment, support of releases for critical applications and environments, management of implementation and rollback planning for all changes to all production management owned environments, i.e. test and production.
- Rollout standard implementation management process for adoption
- Work with areas to support implementation management activities
- Support coordination of Transition Related activities for all releases (coordination with all other Transition and overall Production services) – defining and securing early life support, test environment support, deployment support, etc.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team and be involved in a more detailed level in the release planning of large, complex releases.
- Participate in release sign off process, including identification of Production related risks and ensuring appropriate sign off during go live
- Track value add for the function and work with the IT and business change teams to define/refine the book or work for the year.
- Own all budgets for the Production Release service for the domain.
Requirements
- Undergraduate Degree (or equivalent diploma / work experience)
- Fluent in English
- Expertise in Planning Execution of Software Configuration Release Management Tasks
- Considerable experience in managing IT releases
- Significant experience in a leadership / manager role
- Proven experience working in the Financial Management industry
- Approximately 15-20 years commercial experience within software development, applications support and/or applications production management
- People and professional development experience
- Experience of working in a large organisational change program
- Experience of software delivery lifecycles
- Thorough understanding of change management process
- Proven responsibility for end-to-end process change management in highly complex international environment
- Business acumen and commercial awareness – understand strategic business objectives and be motivated by the application of technology and process change to deliver business value
