Position overview:
The Project Management Analyst under direct supervision of the Project Manager is responsible for providing project management support, and assistance in all aspects of projects analysis and delivery.
Project Management Analysts maintain key activities in the project management office (PMO) by supporting day-to-day operational and tactical activities on projects. This includes documenting communication needs, tracking issues and actions within meetings in the PM’s absence and creating project plans, schedules, as needed.
Project Management Analysts with the support of project managers, also assist in documenting customer requirements, documenting risks, resolving issues and escalating issues when necessary to the Project Manager. Project Management Analysts are required to adhere to established project management methodologies and standards while carrying out their responsibilities.
Job responsbilities:
- Uses standard program/project management tools and techniques appropriately
- Create or contribute to appropriate project artifacts that may include: project plans, milestones, measures, budgets, team and stakeholders’ communication, resource and time management.
- Track and assist in documenting risks and issues within the project and escalate appropriately.
- Create and generate status reports for use in project team meetings
- Supports Project Managers and/or Leaders in the following processes:
- Operate within the governance (decision-making) structure.
- Adhere to project management standards and controls.
Area of Specialty:
Program Office Management
Within the Project Analyst role, a person can specialize in Program Office Management. This specialty has specific responsibility for supporting a Program Manager or Project Manager specializing in Program Office Management in the project execution of a portfolio of Change the Bank (CTB) projects. In this role, liaises with the projects to support adherence to governance processes and supports the collection and analysis of data and the creation of management reporting.
Program Office Management Specific Tasks / Responsibilities:
- Supports a portfolio of projects by helping monitor project scope, milestones, dependencies, costs and benefits through the entire lifecycle
- Supports the communication and uptake of risk and issue mitigation/escalation strategies with projects
- Supports the communication and uptake of project governance methodology and helps ensure compliance to tollgates
- Supports the communication and uptake of the project management methodology and project governance tools within the organisational area supported
- Supports preparation for regular project and programme reviews with Project Managers/ line area stakeholders
- Work collaboratively to support development and delivery change agendas
- Communicates and develops relationships with key stakeholder and project managers
- Supports creation of accurate and timely senior management reporting of the project portfolio against plan objectives
- Helps monitor project progress against cost objectives.
Candidate requirements:
- Proven experience supporting IT projects
- Experience working in the Financial Management industry
- Undergraduate Degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent diploma / work experience)
- Lean project experience a must
- Experience in change management process improvement
