Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) Strategic Lead Management (SLM) is the cross-marketing liaison between GSAM and the rest of the Firm, particularly the Investment Banking Division (IBD) and the Merchant Banking Division (MBD). GSAM SLM accomplishes its mandate by developing and executing strategic business initiatives between GSAM and other parts of the Firm.

SLM’s primary responsibilities include (i) marketing GSAM’s offering across the firm, (ii) thinking strategically about new business opportunities for GSAM generated by other divisions of the firm and vice versa (iii) identifying and leading strategic initiatives including client targeting, cross-divisional education, developing metrics for measuring success (iv) staffing and monitoring these opportunities (iv) reporting activity to senior management in IBD and GSAM.

The Associate/VP in SLM will have a specific focus on cash management opportunities, but gain a broad understanding of all GSAM products and services, as well as having extensive exposure to IBD and MBD. The Associate/VP will have frequent interaction with senior management in all the above-mentioned areas of the Firm and will be a key member of a small group.

Principal Responsibilities of Strategic Lead Management
• Build relationships and maintain regular dialogue with senior bankers of IBD/MBD, Business Unit Leaders, Business Unit Managers in order to monitor and leverage IBD/MBD deal-flow and relationships
• Conduct research on IBD/MBD transactions to determine business opportunities for GSAM
• Analyze and direct new business referrals to GSAM from IBD/MBD and other parts of the Firm and vice versa
• Interact daily with senior professionals in IBD, MBD, GSAM and other parts of the Firm to determine strategy for and timing of new business solicitations
• Develop referral activity reports and deliver presentations to senior management, and other audiences around the Firm
• Develop and deliver presentations outlining GSAM products and services to small and large groups of bankers (staff meetings, VP training, etc.)
• Monitor, analyze and report on various cross-marketing initiatives

Experience/Skills
1. Previous experience working in or with GS IBD/MBD
2. Motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and keen business acumen
3. Mandarin skills are imperative (spoken and written)
4. Knowledge of the fixed income, treasury and/or cash management markets
5. Ability to dissect issues, think strategically and problem solve
6. Organizational and writing skills
7. Maturity, judgment and poise
