Position Description

Product Development Flight Controls Electronics and Integration Engineer Design Duties: Flight Controls Electronics Rqmt Development, Signal Management and Control System Failure Detection Algorithm Design, Development of Flight Controls Electronics Functional Models, Development of Supplier Collaboration Strategies, Development of Process and Tools for optimized Flight Controls Electronics System Design, Development of Airplane System Configuration and Functional Architectures, Research and propose new technology to be used in the development of new and improved products.

Complete knowledge of theory of flight, aerodynamics, and basic meteorology.

Complete knowledge of controls, navigation and guidance methods as applied to aircraft, weapons and space vehicle design. Includes advanced education and experience with applied classical and modern control theory, system trade studies, architecture and integration, electromechanical system and equipment design and specification including management of supplier developed hardware, software and prototyping, vehicle handling and performance and pilot interfaces.

[ + ] GNC Requirements
Complete ability to create system level requirements for GNC systems and allocate those requirements down to the component level. Knowledge of military specifications, government regulations, customer needs, GNC system and component capabilities, and architectures.

[ + ] Research and Development
Complete knowledge of state of the art developments in Guidance, Navigation and Controls (GNC) technology. Understands and tracks new theory and tools in academia and the GNC literature. Basic knowledge of emerging techniques and the ability to develop tools for implementing those techniques.

[ + ] Simulation and Modeling
Complete knowledge and experience in application in aeromechanics and astrodynamics to simulation modeling and validation.

Typical Education/Experience

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
