Hardware Engineer
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create high-performance optoelectronics transport products for optical access metro-optical networking applications.
- Necessitates proficiencies in DWDM, GBE, SONET/SDH CWDM product system design as well as understanding of DWDM/CWDM interface circuitry, optical networks components.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of optoelectronic interface circuits in addition to solid understanding of DWDM and CWDM optical components (lasers, amplifiers, filters), particularly in the 2.5GHz and 10 GHz range.
- Design skill with detailed component circuitry (CDRs, limiting amplifiers, PLLs) is essential.
- Manages all phases of hardware design including hardware debug, technical analysis of product requirements, design of digital/analog/electro-optical circuits custom FPGAs, recommendation of design alternatives, functional specifications, schematic design, hardware verification testing release to manufacturing PCB layout.
- Candidate will possess a proven background of developing complex board level products incorporating high-current power circuits, digital circuits analog circuits possess functioning understanding of fault tolerant systems.
- Possess proficiency in defining detailed board level circuit execution develop test plans to implement complete product validation.
- Propel designs from compliance testing, conceptual work, design, functional specification, prototype, verification H/W bring-up.
- Maintain product through pre post production release.
- The ideal candidate must work well in a team environment, while sustaining personal design schedules.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
- Understanding of CPLD / FPGAs design programming methodologies essential.
- Precise product comprehension of Xilinx FPGA design programming.
- Experience in Ethernet technologies including 1Gb 10Gb, Ethernet ring technologies including RPR EAPS Ethernet aggregation technologies including 802.3ad.
- Creation of high-speed parallel interfaces such as XAUI, SFI4 SFI 5, 622 Mb/s - 2.5, Gb/s high-speed serial interfaces to SFP/XFP discrete electro-optic devices.
- PLL design, especially for SONET products, skill to meet SONET jitter Ethernet based switching platforms.
- High-speed interfaces to 2.5 GHz 10 GHz optics.
- Assess various types of optical technologies.
- Meet ITU SONET standard for performance reliability.
- Demonstrated background in creating high speed boards using optical transport technologies, telecommunication lasers, receivers transceivers.
- Experience with schematic capture RF circuitry layout.
- Thorough understanding of optical technologies, including product architecture design, SONET/SDH, CWDM, Ethernet Ethernet ring architectures DWDM.
- Creation of digital control interfaces such as I2C, microprocessor interfaces (8260).
- Solid debugging tools, capability to rapidly come up to speed on novel technologies.
- Excellent proficiency with clock termination techniques,microprocessor digital circuit design implementation of high speed I/O essential.
- Understanding of optical components analog circuits is extremely desired.
- Superb comprehension of high-speed bus design signal integrity tools necessary.
- Familiarity with implementation of buck and linear regulators, on-board power converters dc-dc step-up.
- Understanding of power sequencing clock skew control /compensation.
- Comprehension of product integration with mechanical components, pcb fabrication fab assembly design rules.
- Skill performing rework of fine-pitch components expertise in use of BER equipment, logic analyzer, voltage meters oscilloscope essential.
- Comprehension of 802.x Telecordia standards is a highly desired.
- Experience with Safety EMC design practices.
- Outstanding communication documentation skills are required.
- Ability to work autonomously provide routine timely project status.
- Compose detailed board/system level functional specifications test/validation plans.
- Complete schematic capture.
- Analyze Signal Integrity issues be adept in evaluating implementations.
- Manage PCB placement layout. Assist fab assembly of prototypes.
- Operate closely with Diagnostics software developers to define bring-up debug requirements. Support design through validation test, debug integration.
- Be focused in scheduling reviews through all vital stages of development.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE: - BS Degree.
- Minimum of 5 years experience.
