Position Description

Perform advanced structural analysis of aircraft structures, components and mechanical systems. Verify structural integrity by using modern analytical methods throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance. Validate and verify structures, systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Coordinate with other engineering groups and functions, partners and teams. Mentors junior engineers and provides some direction and over site. Develops analytical processes/tools to improve effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort. Investigates emerging technologies to develop future product designs to meet projected requirements. Works with less direction from a lead engineer. Some US travel may be needed.

Able to build and manipulate complex data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files).
Preferred -Able to understand the depth and breadth of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics). Able to apply computer aided models to innovative applications.

Typical Education/Experience

Level 4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 5 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Other Job related information

Mechanical or aerospace engineering degree preferred. Modern structural analysis of aircraft structures and systems preferred. Good understanding of structural mechanics, failure theories, mechanical properties of engineering materials, test and analysis verification methods, industry certification requirements preferred.
