Head - Credit Risk, South China
This role is responsible for leading the South Region Retail Banking risk management function and coordinating the Country/Group to protect and create shareholder value by proactively addressing risks and opportunities.
Responsibilities
- To provide advice, guidance and support where applicable to Country Head on matters relating to Retail Credit Risk arising from business activities
- To develop a strategy for Retail Credit Risk Management to maximize operating results and ensure the credit approval process is responsive to customer needs whilst credit losses and collection costs are minimized
- Regularly review Credit Policy and Procedures making recommendations, to ensure that these are consistent with Group Credit Policy and realistically reflect the nature of bank's business
- To review Product Programs and Pre-approval Programs for new and existing products submitted by business units for approval, ensuring that all risk dynamics are properly addressed and controlled
- To manage and report on the Credit Risk exposure of the Retail portfolios to line management and Retail Banking Head
- Control and monitor Credit Cycle related budgets / forecasts
- To regularly monitor growth in asset portfolio and review and advise on Net Bad Debt Delinquency forecasts at an aggregate sub-products / segment level
- Lead, manage and motivate a team to create a conservative credit culture throughout the lending and treasury activities of the bank
- Manage key relationships with regulators, Regional Office, rating agencies, industry bodies, etc.
- Provide summary risk reporting to the Risk Committee as required to ensure that the risk management program is effective and that it meets Group Standards and regulatory requirements
- This is a senior level role, with the chance to drive the credit culture of a bank
Requirement
- University graduate with no less than 15 years of experience in credit risk management
- Solid experience in retail banking is essential
- Strong foundation in credit analysis and the principles of risk management in financial services
- High level of numerical and analytical mind
- Administrative and leadership / supervisory skills, including good organization, planning and coordination skills
- Good communication skills and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate at all levels of management and to be able to work in culturally diverse environments
- English and Mandarin fluency required
- Ability to work in a matrixed organization, leveraging resources across the organization to complete deliverables
- The sound judgment and courage necessary to perform a control role and maintain effective working relationships
