Head of ALM Products

The purpose of this role it to lead the Asset and Liability management team’s engagement with the Product and Commercial department. This has two key facets: 1) to influence the interest rate and liquidity implications of the product strategy and 2) to lead the team in providing liquidity and interest rate risk analysis, thereby ensuring that these risks are managed effectively. Product and Commercial manage all the retail products and partnerships for the firm's customers. The role is also works closely with the Balance Sheet Management team, providing analysis and insight to support structural liquidity and interest rate risk management decisions.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES               

  1. Focus on the impact of the P and C team’s product strategies on the balance sheet with specific reference to:
  2.  
    1. The liquidity impact of said strategies
    2. The liquidity characteristics of said strategies
    3. The interest rate risk generated

 

Providing expert insight on these topics to enable decision making recommendations by the business areas

 

  1. The development and delivery of ALCO reporting for Product and Commercial product set that provides meaningful insight and assist margin management discussions/decisions, in light of changing macro economic and market environments

 

  1. The delivery of forward projections of liquidity identifying the potential ranges given both mix and volume changes will have on the liquidity management of the Bank

 

  1. Build the capability of the team to understand further behavioural risks that are embedded within products that drive interest rate risk

 

  1. Develop reporting and provide analysis to identify overall margin threats and opportunities that arise through the interest rate risk and liquidity reprising characteristics of the book

 

  1. Work with members of the Balance sheet management (structural liquidity manager and structural interest rate risk manager) to develop strategies for Product and Commercial that will assist the development of a fortress balance sheet.

 

  1. Assist in the development of a funds transfer pricing programme that is commercial and relevant

 

  1. Build and maintain the relationships with Product and Commercial senior management to enable effective influencing on behalf of Treasury

 

  1. Lead a team of product analysts who will provide support to achieve the above requirements. The team will work closely with the ALM modelling team to build out and subsequently enhance the ALM reporting for Product and Commercial. Potentially this could include building out the ALM model for Finance Decision support and the role-holder’s team will play a key part in this partnership.

 

  1. Provide key support to the Head of Middle Office in the management of the middle office team.
