Head of Applications Development Job in England, Midlands UK

We are currently looking to recruit a head of application development, who will be based anywhere in the UK, however this will require frequent travel to Woking, Bournemouth and Lincoln. The role is offering between 65-75K as well as offering a company car, healthcare and pension.

About the Role:
The Head of Application Development will lead the Application delivery of our clients Application Development Team including the delivery of committed transformation programmes to our clients internal and external clients.

You will have overall responsibility for the strategic and operational direction of the Application Development group, and its performance against agreed programme / project deliverables and will be responsible for putting in a robust Application Development Strategy (ERP and non-ERP Apps) in place to deliver development / transformations activities whilst ensuring an effective strategy is put in place to secure new business opportunities.

About You:
We are looking for a candidate who has ITIL or Prince2 certification or verifiable experience of formal service management is mandatory.

The ideal candidate will have an in depth knowledge and experience of working with clients in the public sector and other chosen markets. You will have demonstratable experience in working in both Application development and support environments, ideally both at mid tier and enterprise levels and at both strategic and operational levels.

For this role you will ideally have a good understanding of challenges within Public Sector (local Government) and demonstratable experience of offering and delivering value added application solutions in line with local Government strategies.

You will also have experience in the following areas:
• Broad knowledge of new solutions being developed in the marketplace and applying that knowledge to build effective propositions in support of new business opportunities
• Experience of managing multiple services to multi-clients
• Demonstrable experience of effectively managing a PL from both a cost and revenue perspective; including cost modelling experience
• Experience of adhering to tight SLAs / timescales whilst managing the demanding priorities for a multitude and varied client base
• Experience of effectively managing large teams
• Software Application Development related Project management experience
• Experience of designing and developing robust technology roadmaps across a complex application architecture
• Application Life-cycle management
• Consultancy experience
