Head of Business Strategy – Investment Bank
The opportunity will sit in a new internal Strategy team within this tier 1 Investment Bank.
The role is high profile in nature and will have visibility across the entire organisation; the successful candidate will work closely with very senior heads of business across the bank.
Broadly, your role will comprise 3 core activities:
- Business strategy: Working with the CFO and CFO COO on matters of strategic importance to develop plans, design pragmatic solutions, and generate opportunities to drive the business forward, working with stakeholders across CS.
- Business Planning: Drive the annual planning process for CFO – align the business’s strategic plans with investment demands, challenging the business on expenditure and working across the organization to prioritize.
- Governance and Control: Govern and control the key risks within the CFO function; Identify matters of financial and reputational risk and govern plans to mitigate/rectify, highlighting opportunities for operational or strategic change across the functions
Specifically, you will be involved in:
- Design, develop and drive the annual planning process across the organisation – defining the approach and high level timelines for the organization in 2013 is an immediate deliverable
- Align the strategic plans of the business with investment decisions
- Challenge the business on expenditure, providing visibility to CFO and CFO COO to drive decision making Maintain and develop relationships with finance teams and COOs across the organization
- Partner with portfolio management and finance to develop processes and tools fit for purpose
- Maintain a strategic viewpoint but be able to drill into the detail and understand implications across businesses, processes and people to benefit the organization
- Opportunity to work on/lead other strategic projects outside of the annual planning process. As a member of the CFO strategy and planning team you will also be expected to contribute to the wider team mandate
- Re-enforce the global culture of excellence, development and mentoring throughout the group.

- Manage resources and act as an escalation point for issue resolution, negotiation, and influencing
- Attract, develop and retain a high-quality team whilst supporting the bank’s overall mobility strategy
Required Skills, attributes background:
- Excellent track record within Strategy Consulting / Advisory focused on financial markets.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, broad-based project experience, and outstanding client focus
- The ability to take ideas and articulate tangible, practical solutions to an organization
- Proven ability to communicate with all levels of Management in a clear, concise manner
- Solid strategic analysis, problem solving, issue resolution and decision making skills
- First class presentation skills
- A constructive approach to your work and to a feedback culture; excellent interpersonal skills combined with the drive to continually develop yourself and your working environment
- An open and communicative personality
