Head of Capital Management Retail and Business Banking recruitment

A global banking group, with unique access to some of the worlds emerging markets, is looking to hire into the Group''s Capital Management team.

The incumbent will be expected to effectively facilitate the capital management process for Retail and Business Banking across a wide geographic region for the Banking Group. Capital management process comprises: capital optimisation, capital allocation and optimisation of risk adjusted performance measurements, forecasting and stress testing. Incorporating Basel III capital and liquidity impacts into pricing models and capital allocation decisions will be a key focus of the role. The incumbent in the role will be required to provide oversight and monitoring of the capital position and the capital plans of legal entities that contain solely RBB business lines.

An important part of the role is representing the RBB business in local Regulator on-site visits and audits, chairing the RBB Capital Management Committee and a participant on the Group capital management committee.

The role requires a commercially astute individual who is able to engage with Heads of retail business lines and Chief executives in a manner that results in effective partnering with business teams in driving efficient capital and return on capital outcomes.

Capital Measurement, Allocation and Risk Adjusted Performance Management

· Lead initiatives aimed at optimising the regulatory and economic capital position of SBG (frequency and timing: ongoing)

Facilitate the adoption of Integrated Resource Management framework in RBB to aid resource allocation and ongoing monitoring and tracking

Oversee, monitor and sign off economic capital and regulatory capital demand for actual, forecast and stress testing purposes for the PBB business lines and legal entities


To be considered for this position, applicants must have the following;

· Qualified CA, CFA, MBA or equivalent

· A good understanding of Banking Regulations, regulatory capital rules detailed knowledge of Basel II accord is essential

· A good understanding of IFRS with particular reference to accounting for financial instruments

· A good understanding of bank capital management principles and practises

· Working knowledge of risk, especially risk measurement (including ECAP) and forecasting; and potentially also portfolio management is desirable

· Treasury/market experience around capital would be a bonus but are not essential - this is the foundation to potentially take on broader role within capital management

· Combined knowledge of finance and risk concepts in terms of its practical application to ICAAP

· Strong knowledge and at least 8-year track record of capital management and asset liability management

· Knowledge of credit risk and portfolio/economic capital models, methodologies and drivers of portfolio risk

· Previous experience in actively managing bank portfolios
