Head of Central Compliance, RMG, New York
The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralized unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across Macquarie. This includes market and liquidity risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. RMG personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed.
Our Compliance Team currently have a requirement for a Head of Central Compliance. The main purpose of the role is to manage the Central Compliance Team and central policies and processes, as well as support our Business Compliance Officers (BCO's) based with the business.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage Central Agenda/Priorities for Central Compliance
· Management and Leadership of the Central Compliance Team: Assess business / regulatory needs; assign roles; manage resources; prioritize accordingly.
· Manage relationships and coordinate with senior BCOs, regional counterparts and key stakeholders (e.g., CoSec, CCIR, etc.).
· Regulatory exams: manage those which cross more than one business group (e.g., MCUSA, NY Rep Office) or upon request; track open findings/issues
· Regulatory inquiries: Notify management/Legal/BCO; prepare response or follow-up with person assigned for response;
· Regulatory, Criminal and Financial disclosures for Firms and Regulators, coordinating with Legal, as necessary.
· Ensure coverage of Compliance Hotline
· QA testing: Ensure reasonable plan in place and followed considering hot regulatory areas, business / Op Risk / IAD / BCO input, high risk products / functions, new business / services, time elapsed since prior review, volume of reported incidents, etc. Ensure results communicated to stakeholders and ensure follow-up conducted, as warranted.
· Training: Ensure reasonable plan developed and implemented annually. Coordinate with global counterparts and leverage across programs.
· Manage Attestations, Policies, Procedures, Process and Reporting
· Manage Electronic Communications / Records
· Oversee License Control Lists Oversight related
· Manage queries from senior staff/BCOs regarding global, regional policies and procedures
· External Auditor Inquiries (e.g. PwC): Coordinate / Produce documents/responses
· Stay abreast of regulatory changes / actions and advise relevant key parties impacted or interested
To be successful you will:
- Demonstrable experience and progressive career managing and leading a Central Compliance function within a multi-disciplinary banking and financial services organization;
- Experience managing, developing and leading a team, including allocating resources, defining staffing levels and managing performance and development;
- Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Have the ability to develop relationships across various stakeholders, including local and regional advisory Compliance staff, Technology and the business;
- Be self directed, with the ability to proactively identify and analyze problems, and propose viable solutions;
- Have strong organization skills with the ability to work towards and meet deadlines; and
- Demonstrate tenacity and flexibility, with experience of managing and prioritizing a number of activities simultaneously.
