Title: Head of Commercial Banking-Beijing Branch

Location: Beijing

Job Summary:

To lead the commercial banking frontline team based in Beijing Branch to grow the commercial banking business by both actively acquiring new local corporate relationships as well as some select foreign invested companies domiciled in Beijing and the neighboring provinces and  meanwhile deepening relationship with existing client base, in line with the commercial banking business strategy, with a strong view to maximizing return while mitigating risks.

Main responsibilities:

• To originate, on individual basis,  new commercial banking relationships with focus on the local corporate sectors domiciled in the branch’s catchment areas

• To handle personally a limited portfolio of large corporate as relationship manager

• To supervise, as a team leader, the sales activities of the CRMs to ensure a strict sales discipline is implemented with well documented call plan and call reports

• To work with CORI CRMs to deepen the relationship with a portfolio of existing clients targeting to increasing commercial banking penetration with strong focus on trade finance, cash management products and working capital loans.

• To guide the CAs and CRMs closely to ensure credit proposals are structured and priced properly to protect the bank’s interest with acceptable return

• To work and supervise CAs and CRMs to complete credit proposals and reviews within reasonable turnaround time. Proper follow up with Risk is also needed in respect of addressing all further enquiries and additional input as needed.

• To plan visits to facility clients at acceptable frequencies to update business development of the clients as required by the management and the Risk through regular call reports as well as to flag and react to early warning signals on deterioration of counterparty risk and operational risks.

• To work with Trade Finance sales to properly evaluate trade finance opportunities for the clients referred by them and align with CA to capture the business opportunity by obtaining the necessary credit approval.

• To work with Compliance and Operations to ensure all KYC is done properly for both new and existing clients adopted at the branch level and escalate timely for management approval for all exceptions

• To identify cross-selling opportunities on all prospects and existing and assist the respective CIB product sales to win the mandate from relationship perspective.

• To plan and implement, with the assistance of Marketing Department, marketing events in Beijing to enhance our brand awareness and widening client acquisition channels.

• Other ad hoc tasks / relevant responsibilities as assigned by the management

Academic Background

Bachelor degree (finance or business discipline and Master Degree can be a plus)

Working Experience / Technical Skills Know How

At least 5 to 8 years experience in commercial banking with no less than 5 years experience as a relationship manager for local corporate (SOEs), preferably with a major international bank

At least 3 years in a managerial position

Solid accounting, financial skills and good  understanding of credit risk practice in foreign banks

Sound knowledge on different bank products, particularly commercial banking/transaction banking products

Skills and Competencies

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build up rapport quickly with clients

Good presentation and negotiation skills

Solid people management skills and strong leadership

Team playing

English/Mandarin – Fluent

Well versed in MS Office applications ?Word, Excel, PowerPoint is a must?

CFA or ACCA qualification is a plus

Frequent business travels are required
