Head of Commercial Finance

An exciting commercial finance position at one of the UK’s leading transport companies has just become available. The company is part of one of the world’s leading logistics service providers, and is conveniently located in Central London. This is a diverse and growing industry and presents an excellent opportunity for the right candidate.

This role will include two main responsibilities. The first will be spent reporting on the £15m cost base of running the bid team, plus all other costs, budgets and forecasts. The candidate will report this information on to their parent company under UK GAAP and IFRS. The second key responsibility of the role will be focused on developing and presenting the business cases for the top bids to their parent group, working closely alongside the Head of Bids. This highly commercial role will involve taking the top bids and then putting them in a concise format, highlighting costs and potential profit and then pitching to the parent group. The role will require using knowledge and experience to contribute to the overall development of the strategy of the company. This knowledge will contribute towards the development, management and motivation of a small team

The ideal candidate for this role will therefore be a chartered qualified accountant from an ACA or blue chip background. Experience of working in UK transport, bidding or outsourcing industries would be an advantage but not essential. The candidate must have experience of developing business cases and experience of managing a cost base. Due to the commercial nature of presenting business cases to the parent company, strong stakeholder management and influencing skills are important. Experience reporting under IFRS and UKGAAP is necessary. The candidate will also be required to regularly pitch to the parent group.
