Head of Compliance – Corporate and Private Banking recruitment
This role would particularly suit an established and ambitious Compliance Manager who is keen to make the step up into a more autonomous "Head of" and put their own blueprint down on an emerging player within the region. The bank are currently under 50 staff here in Singapore yet are highly liquid and have ambitious expansion plans within the country and the broader ASEAN region over the next 5 years. Note that this role will also incorporate wider aspects of corporate governance including operational risk management and internal controls. The successful candidate should ideally have significant exposure and understanding of key MAS regulations as well as some exposure to other major APAC regulators.
Responsibilities will include :
- Oversee implementation of the bank’s annual Singapore compliance plan, working in tandem with individual departments to outline key compliance obligations
- Approve KPIs for the purpose of performance monitoring and quality measurement of the Compliance and Internal Control department
- Promote a strong compliance culture from the outset through both internal and external communications
- Ensure statutory requirements concerning Anti Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing are delivered efficiently, meeting the MAS and the bank’s own internal standards
- Oversee the overall compliance monitoring standards for the bank (MAS and regional regulators), ensuring full and frank disclosures
- Submit periodic reviews to the bank’s Head of Group Compliance on a periodic basis
- Recommend improvements to the bank’s overall governance infrastructure through regular meetings (monthly)with senior management staff on a regional basis
Skills required :
- Senior level compliance experience at a progressive corporate or private banking group in Singapore is essential
- A thorough working knowledge of MAS regulations is essential
- Understanding of/ exposure to additional APAC regulations is highly preferable
- Strong stakeholder management qualities are essential
- Legal qualifications are not essential although would be an advantage
